Produced by Zero Gravity Management and ChickFlicks, The Demented is another zombie-fest populated by young genre fixtures that include I Spit on Your Grave's Sarah Butler, Michael Welch (The Twilight Saga), Kayla Ewell ("The Vampire Diaries"), Brittney Alger (21 Jump Street), and Richard Kohnke (Mighty Fine).

The script was penned by writer/director Chris Roosevelt. Benjamin Sacks and Bryan Sexton serve as executive producers. Zero Gravity’s Christine Holder, Mark Holder, and Damiano Tucci are producing alongside ChickFlicks’ Sara Risher. Shirley Craig, Phil Goldfine, and Steven R. Monroe are also producing.

No, this is not an Amazing Spider-Man-style lightning reboot of horror remake Mother’s Day. Nor, as far as we can tell, is it another one of those rom-coms built around a particular holiday. Oh the glorious 1970’s, how we love to explore the vaguely outlined state of mind evoked in thee. Debbie Goodstein jettisons us there for her debut, Mighty Fine, a singularly ineffective and indistinct coming of age tale that moonlights as a character study of (what we’re supposed to assume is) the now extinct patriarchal breadwinner. The trouble is, Debbie, what you’ve given us coasts by solely on good intentions. And we all know what road is paved with those.

Chazz Palminteri’s life is one of those classic show biz stories that, dare we say it, is the stuff from which movies are made. Born and raised in the Bronx, Palminteri toiled for years as a struggling stage, film and television actor before finally being plucked from obscurity by Robert De Niro, who saw his off-Broadway autobiographical play A Bronx Tale, a one-man show in which Palminteri played a host of colorful characters he grew up and around in his Bronx neighborhood during the 1950s and ‘60s, where his life was shaped by two mentors: his straight-laced working class father and a local mobster named Sonny.

When you see the opening moments of Debbie Goodstein’s writing/directing debut Mighty Fine and catch your first glimpse of newcomer Rainey Qualley playing Andie MacDowell’s daughter, your first thoughts will most likely be “Wow! That’s great casting.” Truth be told, 23 year-old Qualley is, in real life, MacDowell’s daughter, the second of her three children.

Mighty Fine, which MacDowell co-produced, tells Goodstein’s autobiographical story of a Jewish family from Brooklyn who relocate to New Orleans in the early 1970s, led by their charismatic, but troubled father (Chazz Palminteri) who is always one step away from millionaire status or complete destitution. The family drama, released by Adopt Films, arrives in theaters May 25.

Actress Andie MacDowell struggled to watch her daughter Rainey Qualley play an abuse victim in upcoming movie Mighty Fine, insisting it made her "cringe" to see the emotional performance.

Qualley makes her debut as MacDowell's eldest daughter Maddie in the forthcoming film, about a man who struggles with bipolar disorder and the effect it has on his family.

But MacDowell reveals their first shoot together was far from easy, admitting she felt uncomfortable when Qualley acted out her intense scenes.

She tells the Daily Mail's Weekend magazine, "In (Mighty Fine), I'm married to a man who's bipolar and takes it out on our daughter, and I don't protect her. The role was very demanding, very abusive. What my daughter went through makes me cringe."...

Andie MacDowell is stepping into Dianne Wiest’s shoes as the preacher’s wife in the Craig Brewer remake of Footloose. Much is being made of the effort Kenny Wormald has in jumping into the dancing shoes of Kevin Bacon, but one could argue that it is just as difficult to take on a role originated by an Oscar winner.

MacDowell stars opposite Dennis Quaid as his wife, something she has done before in Dinner with Friends. “We’re an old married couple,” MacDowell joked to Movie Fanatic for our Footloose interview.

“The Twilight Saga” starlet Jodelle Ferland (Bree Tanner in “Eclipse”) tweeted a link to a new music video she appears in for Vancouver-based band Behind Sapphire. Okay, it may not have Robert Pattinson or Kristen Stewart, but at least it’s something!

The video for “Oh My, What a Fine Day” was revealed last night and follows Anna Kendrick’s appearance in LCD Soundsystem’s “Pow Pow” as well as Christian Serratos’ upcoming cameo for The Black Keys. In the video, Ferland, a friend of the band, runs through a field before being transported into what seems to be a strange dream-like world.

The 16-year-old actress is also known for the 2006 video game adaptation of “Silent Hill” and has appeared in “Case 39.” She...

The name of the song is a bit coincidental, since one of her post-Eclipse projects has been a movie called Mighty Fine, which she worked on in New Orleans, Louisiana last year.

Other films Jodelle Ferland has been involved with since Eclipse include The Cabin In The Woods, Ice Quake, and The Tall Man. Also, a movie she did a few years back, Case 39, received some reawakened attention as it hit theaters a couple of years after it'd been completed.
