They are based on the Worth Valley Railway in the Bronte Country where the 1970 Railway Children film was made. They belong to the Vintage Carriages Trust (www.vintagecarriagestrust.org) and the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway Trust (www.lyrtrust.org.uk). The grounded body was numbered 279 when built by the L&Y in 1879, and was lived in by various families from 1910 until 1995. Since then 279 has been in storage pending restoration to service - the restoration has recently started. You can ride in similar carriages on the Worth Valley Railway Vintage Train days (see www.kwvr.co.uk)
