Tyler wears blue and white while Simone wears red and white. Together they create the traditional American color palette of Red, White, and Blue - a nod to this highly American film
The idea for this project started in Danny Farber's (writer/director, Tyler Baumgartner) notes app in 2014. The project wasn't filmed until 2023. Farber has gone on record saying he didn't think it was an appropriate story to tell but year after year these tragedies kept occurring. It was finally in the spring of 2023, when two Tennessee legislators (Justin Jones and Justin Pearson) got expelled from the state House of Representatives for peacefully protesting with their younger constituents, that Farber gained the courage to make this project.
Amy Poheler serves as an executive producer on this project
Anjelika Washington (Simone Parker/Executive Producer), is the survivor of a school shooting. It wasn't a covered by the national media because only one person was killed, Anjelika's friend Bianca. In the end of the film's credits there is a dedication to Bianca. Farber didn't know any of this when he wrote this story with Anjelika in mind to play Simone
Though it isn't stated in the film, Tyler's last name is Baumgartner. Baumgartner is a reference to something that is ultimately violent in a peaceful setting (bomb/garden) much like the plot of this film.
