The first episode received an early screening in Tokyo Joypolis amusement park on June 26, 2010. The regular television broadcast started on July 11, 2010.
Based on the Asobi ni Iku yo! light novel series by Okina Kamino with illustrations by Eizo Hoden and Nishieda. The series, which consists of 20 volumes, was published by Media Factory under their MF Bunko J label from October 25, 2003, to February 25, 2015.
