Tammy Faye…Tori Spelling…Chaz Bono…RuPaul…The Fabulous Beekman Boys…and (soon) Latoya Jackson.
These names are not only iconic for what they’ve each brought to the world of entertainment but the one common thread between each of them is they have been brought to our attention in revealing ways in film and television by Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato and their World of Wonder Productions.
The Super Producers currently are working on a multitude of projects including RuPaul’s All-Stars Drag Race on Logo, the just-announced Latoya Jackson reality show for Own, Oxygen’s All The Right Moves and this weekend’s one-hour Own special, 10 Kids, 2 Dads.
AfterElton miraculously was able to get both Bailey and Barbato on the phone earlier this week to talk about all these projects as well as their philosophy for why when it comes to reality TV, hair flipping is so much better than table flipping.

Canada's long-running teen drama "Degrassi: The Next Generation" has tackled plenty of serious subjects over the years, and fans in the U.S. have taken notice. Now Chaz Bono, one of Hollywood's most visible Lgbt activists, has taken notice, and dropped by the show's Toronto set to film a cameo.
Bono, who documented his sex change in the documentary "Becoming Chaz," will play himself in scenes with the show's transgender character, Adam Torres (Jordan Todosey).
"I work with a transgender teen support group that is part of the organization Transforming Family," Bono tells People, "so when the opportunity to be part of a series that features a trans teen came up, I was thrilled."
The episode will air in the fall, but came about after Bono met the "Degrassi" team at the Emmys in 2011. People has deets on the role, which will feature Bono as a celebrity judge at a...

When the Oprah Winfrey Network’s Documentary Club launched in May 2011, it was pitched as an extension of Winfrey’s mega-successful Book Club. It was a way for Winfrey to air inspiring real-life stories that fit her brand as well as promote documentary filmmaking, with Rosie O’Donnell as a collaborator. A good portion of that original nonfiction film content was brought in by ro*co Films Productions, which signed a two-year agreement with the network to acquire and produce docs for the channel and the Doc Club banner. Ro*co announced Monday that its agreement with Own has not been extended, and while ro*co moves on to work with 1492 Pictures and other broadcast and digital partnerships, Own has decided to bring its acquisitions completely in-house. Senior VP scheduling, acquisitions and planning Scott Garner and his team, who were responsible for nabbing the club’s first entry, “Becoming Chaz,...

Every year GLAAD gives out awards for outstanding Glbt media representation. This year there are 116 nominees competing in 25 media categories - everything from Outstanding Drama Series to Outstanding Comic Book.
"As media continue to tell new stories about Lgbt people and families, a majority of Americans now support full equality of Lgbt Americans," said Mike Thompson, GLAAD’s Acting President. "This year’s nominees enlighten and entertain, while spotlighting the diversity of our community. Audiences expect to see their own worlds reflected in media, and today more than ever, those include the lives of Lgbt people. Viewers know that Lgbt characters and stories are simply natural extensions of, and glimpses into, their own experiences from across America."
Winners will be announced at the GLAAD Media Awards in New York on March 24, 2012 at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square; in Los Angeles on April 21 at the Westin Bonaventure; and in San...

Despite drawing the ire of the organization for its now-canceled cross-dressing comedy Work It, ABC topped the list of nominees for the 23rd annual GLAAD Media Awards. Collecting mentions for Grey's Anatomy (outstanding drama) as well Modern Family and Happy Endings, the Disney-owned network also picked up a nomination for outstanding individual episode without a regular Lgbt character for its short-lived comedy Man Up and reality staple Dancing With the Stars with Chaz Bono. Bono also factored in a pair of other nominees: Own's Becoming Chaz earned a nom in the documentary category and his turn

The Sundance Film Festival is the largest independent cinema festival in the United States. Held in January in Park City, Salt Lake City, the festival is a showcase for new work from American and international independent filmmakers. The Festival has changed over the decades from a low-profile venue for small-budget, independent creators from outside the Hollywood system to a media extravaganza for Hollywood celebrity actors, paparazzi, and luxury lounges set up by companies that are not affiliated with Sundance.
Now the festival is getting ready for the 2012 edition and today they announced the jury members for this year’s Festival. They include Shari Berman, Scott Burns, Charles Ferguson, Nick Fraser, Mike Judge, Justin Lin, Anthony Mackie, Cliff Martinez, Julia Ormond, Dee Rees and Lynn Shelton.
Here is the official press release:

I started off 2011 by attending the Sundance Film Festival for the first time. I was only there for a few days but got to see the films Becoming Chaz and Gun Hill Road. I left the film festival feeling infinitely inspired as an actress, artist, and trans woman. I was certain that the game would be forever changed for trans folks in the media because of these two films. Chaz Bono, the subject of Becoming Chaz, of course, went on to have a groundbreaking year for transgender visibility. Harmony Santana, the transgender actress who plays Michael/Vanessa in Gun Hill Road, has won critical raves and public adulation for her moving performance as a teen struggling for paternal acceptance as she begins her gender transition. She was recently nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for her role. She is the first trans woman to be so honored.

After dating for more than six years, Chaz Bono and Jennifer Elia have called it quits. The "Dancing with the Stars" almost-champion confirmed the news to TMZ through his rep who stated that the pair "are no longer a couple."
Just last month, Bono's documentary series, "Being Chaz" showed Bono proposing to his longtime girlfriend on top of the Seattle Space Needle. But even though the pair, who have been dating since 2005, is putting a period on their relationship, that doesn't mean they will not continue to be in one another's lives: "They leave this relationship with great love, respect and affection toward one another," Bono's rep continues. "No further amplification will be forthcoming and they ask that you respect their privacy at this time."

You guys, there are only 10 days until Christmas. I hope you are getting all of your shopping done. I did, but I still have to help my wife finish hers.
I am so super stoked about this: Love Crime is being made into an American version (renamed Passion) that is said to be starring Noomi Rapace and Rachel McAdams. The French original was released earlier this year, with Kristin Scott Thomas playing the older boss of Ludivine Sagnier. There was an erotic element of control to their relationship, one I'd enjoy seeing explored by Rachel and Noomi immediately. It is a little odd that Rachel would play Kristin's roll, though, as she can't be much older than Noomi. Nevermind that! I'm in.
Congrats to Australian Finance Minister Penny Wong on the birth of her first child! The senator and her partner welcomed a baby girl, Alexandra.

There's no denying that Chaz Bono has had an incredible year. Not only did the Lgbt activist and author star on Season 13 of ABC's hit "Dancing With the Stars" -- and spark subsequent backlash for being the first transgender person to do so -- but he was also awarded the Hero Award at the 2011 Glsen Respect Awards and named one of Out magazine's 100 Lgbt people of the year. Now Chaz has another accomplishment to add to his list before ringing in the new year: He's engaged.
In the Own documentary, 'Being Chaz,' which is a follow-up to the Emmy-nominated 'Becoming Chaz,' Chaz proposed to his girlfriend, Jennifer Elia.
In a short interview with The Huffington Post, Chaz opened up about letting the cameras back into his home, finding the courage to transition and, of course, his new-found 'Dancing With the Stars' friends. And for the record,...

It's been a big year for Chaz Bono -- from starring on "Dancing With The Stars" to being nominated as one of Out magazine's 100 Lgbt people of the year -- and if the above clip from the new Own documentary "Being Chaz" is any indication of what's in store for 2012, next year should be just as monumental.
In the preview, which is from the follow up to the Emmy-nominated documentary "Becoming Chaz," Bono proposes to girlfriend Jennifer Elia while atop the Seattle Space Needle reports TMZ.com.
"It's gorgeous. Thank you so much," Elia says upon being presented with her engagement ring. "It's stunning. It's huge."
"Being Chaz," which airs tonight on Own at 8pm Et, focuses less on Bono's transition and more on his life, including, as People.com notes, the backlash he encountered when he became the first transgender contestant to compete on ABC's "Dancing With The Stars.

Fresh off a run on Dancing with the Stars, in which he was widely praised for his audience appeal, Chaz Bono is gearing up for the premiere of Being Chaz, a new documentary special on Own. Viewers may be familiar with Becoming Chaz, a documentary that chronicled his physical transition. For those who can remember the adorable little blonde girl on "Sonny and Cher," Chaz Bono's very public transformation from a woman into a man has likely been a jarring one -- and probably accounts for some of the angry response to Bono's decision to star in the current season of "Dancing with the Stars." Chaz Bono misses a lot of things about competing on "Dancing with the Stars." But most of all, he misses Nancy Grace.
"I have become friends with David Arquette and J.R. Martinez and Nancy Grace," Chaz told the ladies of "New York Live" and me. "We are going to leave our spouses!"
Chaz, who was in New York for a few hours to promote his new documentary, "Being Chaz." A follow up to the Emmy nominated "Becoming Chaz," the new film will play on Oprah's network, Own. And although the documentaries follow Chaz through arguably the biggest change of his life, according to Chaz, it's "Dancing" that really transformed him.
"My mom was really into it," Chaz said. "When you grow up with Cher as your mother -- she's the performer in the family. My relatives laughed and asked, 'do you dance.' I had tremendous support from her.
