Long before the likes of Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby got together to give modern MCU its first take on the Fantastic Four, Kate Mara starred alongside Miles Teller back in 2015. The Marvel bosses will surely be hoping that First Steps proves to be completely different from the 20th Century Fox offering, and in more ways than one.

Apart from being a dud at the box office and critically, 2015’s Fantastic Four also resulted in some dismal claims. However, none stood out more than what Kate Mara said about director Josh Trank, for whom Fantastic Four was the second movie of his career.

British actress Felicity Jones is best known for her versatility and compelling performances in both independent films and major blockbusters. She first gained widespread recognition for her role as Jane Hawking in the 2014 biographical drama The Theory of Everything, portraying the wife of physicist Stephen Hawking (Eddie Redmayne). Her performance earned her critical acclaim and her first career Oscar nomination for Best Actress. In addition, Jones also received a BAFTA bid and won several other prestigious accolades for her portrayal of Hawking’s steadfast and intelligent wife.
After The Theory of Everything, Jones starred in her first big blockbuster, the 2016 “Star Wars” spin-off Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, in which she portrays Jyn Erso, a rebellious leader on a mission to steal the nefarious Galactic Empire’s Death Star plans.

From Schindler’s List to The English Patient to the Harry Potter films to Conclave, Ralph Fiennes has had a celebrated career as a leading star and character actor.
The British performer, who graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, is adept at playing compromised men on the big screen, such as his Austrian Nazi Amon Göth, who oversees the building of a concentration camp in Poland in Schindler’s List. In 2011, Fiennes made his big-screen directorial debut and also starred in William Shakespeare’s tragedy Coriolanus. He starred, produced and directed 2013’s The Invisible Woman, where he portrayed Charles Dickens. Most notably, Fiennes has been in several Best Picture Oscar winners including 1993’s Schindler’s List, The English Patient, and 2009’s The Hurt Locker. His 2022 movie The Menu brought him a Golden Globe nomination in the comedy/musical category. And his 2024 film Conclave, in which he plays an embattled...

After the official trailer dropped this week, Marvel fans around the world were introduced to a new piece in Marvel's sacred timeline. However, this "new" film certainly feels a bit too familiar.
With entries like X-Men '97 and some of the more comic-accurate designs seen in Deadpool & Wolverine and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, Marvel seems to be getting back to its roots with more and more material. However, the new Fantastic Four flick seems to be the prime example of a comic-book movie, not just an entry in the MCU.
A blast from the past with hope for the future.
Right from the redesign of the Marvel Studios logo, it's clear that we aren't dealing with the typical NYC setting seen across multiple pieces of Marvel media. With the art deco styles and retro-futurist designs, it feels like we have stepped into the panels of one of Stan Lee...

Yesterday's trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps gave us a first glimpse of Ben Grimm fully transformed into The Thing, as well as Sue and Johnny Storm using their respective force-field and "flame-on" superpowers. But, for whatever reason, we never saw Reed Richards utilizing his stretchy abilities.
Mr. Fantastic's ability to bend, stretch, and expand every part of his body has never been the easiest to translate from page to screen, but it's still somewhat surprising that the teaser didn't include so much as a quick tease of Reed using his powers.
Did it at one point?
Fans are convinced that one oddly-framed shot from the trailer showing Reed scribbling an equation originally showed the hero's elongated left arm writing on the other end of the board. This wouldn't be the first time Marvel edited something out of a trailer, but it would usually be to hide a...

3… 2… 1… Blast off! The time has finally come for the Fantastic Four – aka Mr. Fantastic, The Invisible Woman, The Human Torch, and The Thing – to take their first steps into the MCU, after years and years of waiting. The blue-suited quartet are all-out Marvel royalty, long considered ‘Marvel’s first family’ since their comic debut in the 1960s – and now, they’re entering Kevin Feige’s shared universe at long last, after several (not-hugely-successful) attempts under Fox. This time, we have Pedro Pascal as super-stretchy Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as the transparent Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as the flame-headed Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as rock-dude Ben Grimm – whose cosmic mission delivers them all-new abilities. Check out the trailer here:
Phew! There’s real pressure here for Marvel Studios to knock it out of the park with First Steps – and from the looks of things, they’re on the right track.

This year's Super Bowl will be held at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana on February 9, and, as usual, we're expecting a number of big trailer/TV spot debuts during the annual sporting event.
Coming off a disappointingly quiet year for comic book-based movies, 2025 is shaping up to be a much more exciting 12 months for the genre. Superman director James Gunn has already confirmed that we will see something new from the Dcu reboot (likely Krypto-related) during the Puppy Bowl, and thanks to Cryptic HD Quality, we may now know at least some of the other major spots to look out for.
Our first look at some footage from Jurassic World Rebirth seems highly likely, as do new teasers for Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning and Thunderbolts*. The first official teaser for The Fantastic Four: First Steps is also long overdue after a number of leaks, but it's...

When Universal Pictures' plan for an McU-style "Dark Universe" fell apart, Blumhouse wasted no time putting its own spin on those iconic movie monsters. The Invisible Man was among the first and received rave reviews before grossing $144.5 million worldwide on a mere $7 million budget.
While filmmaker Leigh Whannell has since moved on to Wolf Man, there's been chatter for years about him helming a sequel revolving around Elisabeth Moss' "Invisible Woman."
The movie ended by teasing a vigilante-style follow-up and both Jason Blum and James Wan have left the door open to it becoming a reality in previous interviews.
Unfortunately, Whannell doesn't seem overly interested and closed the door on stepping behind the camera for The Invisible Woman while talking to The Hollywood Reporter (via FearHQ.com).
"An ending is the hardest thing to do in screenwriting. It’s the holy grail of screenwriting, and I revere movies with great endings.

At one point recently, Marvel Rivals became the most popular game on Steam, and this is well after a month beyond its release. After only a fortnight, 20 million players had tried the game, and that means that over 20 million players have been exposed to the game's main mascot and announcer, Galacta. Galacta is a bit of an odd character, being the daughter of the more famous Galactus, a world-eating sort-of villain that is often used as the center of Earth-defending events in Marvel Comics.
Galacta is more of a hero, beginning as a tapeworm-like parasite inside Galactus that became her own cosmic being. Weirdly, she was raised on Earth as a human teenager, able to satiate her cosmic hunger without eating worlds like her father. She seems to be the one guiding heroes in the Marvel Rivals version of the comic book universe, taking interest in the multiversal colliding after...

Since the two movies share a director, it is reasonable for viewers to wonder whether 2020’s The Invisible Man and 2025’s Wolf Man are canonically linked. 2025’s Wolf Man reboot sees Poor Things supporting star Christopher Abbott play Blake, an unfortunate father who has a run-in with a werewolf after moving into his childhood home with his wife and daughter. A reboot of 1941’s The Wolf Man, 2025’s Wolf Man is a straightforward contemporary horror retelling of the iconic story and the latest addition to Universal’s complex, ever-shifting Dark Universe project.

Yesterday, we got our first look at what was believed to be the new Wolfman design for Universal and Blumhouse's upcoming reboot (titled Wolf Man), with an actor donning a monster costume to jump out at passers-by at Universal Orlando's Halloween Horror Nights takeover attraction.
The reveal was met with a decidedly mixed response (and we're probably being kind there) from fans, most of whom felt that the titular lycanthrope looked more like some kind of mutant hillbilly from the Wrong Turn movies than an actual werewolf.
There was speculation that this might simply be a guy in a thrown-together outfit and not indicative of the Wolfman's official look, but insider Daniel Richtman believes this is indeed how the creature will be depicted in the movie - though it is said to "look slightly better in the actual film."
It's certainly... a choice! But we're sure it will look at lot better in the movie,...

Thus far, Disney has confirmed the introduction or re-appearance of several major players, both heroic and villainous.
As of the time of writing, movies confirmed for Phase 6 include Fantastic Four: First Steps, Blade, Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. Wolf Man: First Promo Poster For Leigh Whannell's Reboot Reveals Official Logo & A Chilling Location
"Even a man who is pure in heart and says his prayers by night may become a wolf when the wolfbane blooms and Autumn moon is bright."
Universal and Blumhouse's long-awaited Wolfman movie (now known as Wolf Man) went through a hairy (sorry) phase of production late last year, but cameras officially started rolling back in March, and we now have our first official look at an early promo poster for the film (via FearHQ.com).
The banner was spotted on display at Universal Orlando as part of the park's Halloween Horror Nights takeover. The image gives us a first look at the movie's logo and what will presumably be the primary location of the story, but no sign of the titular lycanthrope, who will likely be kept under wraps until well into the marketing phase.

Spooky season is nearly here.
And Peacock, Universal’s direct-to-consumer streaming platform, has just unveiled its Halloween programming line-up, full of tricks and treats from the studio’s back catalog, as well as two new series (“Teacup” and “Hysteria!”) for some fresh scares.
In 2022 and ’23, there was at least one big Blumhouse movie that simultaneously debuted on Peacock — in ’22, it was David Gordon Green’s trilogy-capping “Halloween Ends” and last year, it was the video game adaptation “Five Nights at Freddy’s”. This year doesn’t have anything quite like that, but it’s still a powerful collection of titles for every viewer.
The Sept. 1 batch includes classics like “Bride of Frankenstein,” “It Came From Outer Space” and “Werewolf of London;” 1980s favorites like “Halloween III: Season of the Witch,” “The Funhouse” and “The Thing;” along with more modern hits like the original “Candyman,” Jordan Peele’s “Us” and several entries in the “Saw” franchise.

According to director Elizabeth Banks, her film The Invisible Woman has been superseded by a sequel to The Invisible Man and put on hold.
Elizabeth Banks may soon have a chance to make a sequel to Cocaine Bear, last year’s action comedy about a raging grizzly high on class A drugs. While that will come as welcome news to fans of the first film, a different Elizabeth Banks project appears to be no more.
The filmmaker popped up in an interview at Comicbook.com where she was asked about the status of her take on The Invisible Woman, a project commissioned in 2019. Banks was set to star in and direct Invisible Woman for Universal, and it was a project she pitched to the studio. Eric Cressida Wilson, who penned The Girl On The Train, was recruited to write the script.

With the studio set to introduce Marvel’s first family Fantastic Four in the MCU, fans are revisiting the previous adaptations of the superhero team, including Josh Trank’s 2015 reboot boasting a stellar cast including Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell. There is no denying that the film has not been the best the superhero genre has to offer and fans have now noted one glaring flaw that further compounds its shortcomings.

The superhero team has always been defined as Marvel’s first family. However, the 2015 reboot film doesn’t seem too keen to follow the concept as two of the leading characters Susan Storm and The Thing hardly have a conversation in the movie.

George Waggner's 1941 horror film "The Wolf Man" introduced audiences to, essentially, the "second officer" of the Universal Monsters canon. Everyone knows that Dracula is the captain of the monster ship, and that Frankenstein is his first officer (a position he often shares with the Bride). The Wolf Man is always third in command, perhaps serving as a security officer or an enforcer. Mummies, gillmen, invisible men, Dr. Hydes, and other ancillary ghouls serve lower down in the crew.
Watching the original "Wolf Man" film, however, reveals a dark and sad tale about Larry Talbot who is attacked by a wolf on a misty night in Wales, afflicting him with the curse of the werewolf. Throughout the year, Larry will transform into an animalistic wolf/human creature and stalk and kill random victims. The tale is terrifying and tragic and inspired many pop culture tales to follow -- as well as many nightmares.

Universal Monsters reboot continues with renewed hope after the failed Dark Universe attempt, with successful recent projects like The Invisible Man. Directors like Chloe Zhao and James Wan bring fresh, innovative takes on iconic characters like Dracula and Frankenstein to modern audiences. Universal explores different genres with plans for animated monster musicals, family-friendly hybrids, and potential crossovers like Dark Army, facing budget concerns.
Though the original plans for the so-called Dark Universe were an infamous misfire, there are still plans for a Universal Monsters reboot to bring some of the studio's most iconic creations back to the big screen. The studio's roster of horror creatures, including Dracula, the Frankenstein Monster and his Bride, the Wolfman, the Mummy, the Invisible Man, and the Creature from the Black Lagoon (among others), are among the most recognizable horror characters in pop culture history. With the McU's Fantastic Four casting rumors hotting up, reported frontrunner Vanessa Kirby has offered her first public reaction to the possibility of her playing Sue Storm Aka The Invisible Woman. Previous chatter suggests that Barbie star Margot Robbie is up for the lead role, but Mission Impossible star Kirby has emerged as a strong contender. That's despite the conspicuous silence from within Marvel on official Fantastic Four casting news to date.
Vanessa Kirby was asked about playing Sue Storm in the McU's The Fantastic Four reboot, and told Comicbook.com that she was aware of the rumors. While offering no concrete confirmation of being in talks with Marvel, Kirby said playing Sue Storm "would be an honor". Her positive but vague reaction is in stark contrast to the shutdown Mila Kunis offered after she was linked to the same role after being photographed with Matt Shakman in Los Angeles.

Exclusive: Here’s a first look at Alicia Vikander’s turn as Katherine Parr in the Cannes-bound Firebrand.
Gabrielle Tana’s Brouhaha Entertainment has released the first-look photo of the Ex Machina star in costume for Brazilian helmer Karim Ainouz’s first English-language film. See it below.
Alicia Vikander plays opposite Jude Law, who plays a scheming Henry VIII. Our exclusive photo shows Vikander with the ladies of her bedchamber, who are played by Ruby Bentall (Poldark), Bryony Hannah (Call The Midwife) and Maia Jemmett.
Images of Law as the much-married Tudor king are being kept under wraps at Ainouz’s behest until the movie has screened in competition in Cannes.
A screening date hasn’t been officially set yet but it’s strongly rumoured that Firebrand will premiere at the Palais des Festivals on Sunday, May 21. FilmNation will be shopping on the Croisette.

As the crow flies, only about 30 miles separate the port towns of Dover and Calais — a distance that, in many parts of the world, wouldn’t span any greater culture shift than a slight tweak in accent. When those miles are filled with the English Channel, however, opposite coastlines represent opposite worlds, where everything from language to sexual mores are poles apart. It’s a short but jolting journey, an exercise in social and geographic disorientation that British-Pakistani filmmaker Aleem Khan probes to layered, thoughtful effect in his auspicious first feature “After Love.”
Galvanized by Joanna Scanlan’s quiet, searing turn as a white Muslim widow piecing together the separate lives her late husband led on both shores, Khan’s debut confidently blends old-school melodrama with a contemporary political consciousness, suggesting broader, Brexit-era cross-cultural friction while maintaining an intimate domestic focus. Selected for the Critics’ Week program of 2020’s nixed Cannes festival,...
