When Wallace answers the door, a flatcap and blue grey raincoat are seen hanging up next to Gromit's yellow raincoat & hat. This is a tribute to Wallace's original voice actor, Peter Sallis, who wore the flatcap & raincoat in his role as Norman Clegg in Last of the Summer Wine. Sallis passed away in 2017.
At the climax of the movie you can see a sign that says "Yorkshire Border: Keep Out" on one side, and "Lancashire Border: No, YOU Keep Out" on the other. Yorkshire and Lancashire are neighbouring counties that have a strong rivalry with each other.
Nick Park: "At the peak of it, we have around 35 animators all working every day on different sets doing between 1-5 seconds of animation a day. We have around 200 supporting crew in the studio too. It's a massive team effort to make a film like this. In a good week, we might hit a minute of film. That's good going too!"
Marks the first new Wallace & Gromit film since the 2017 death of Wallace's original voice actor Peter Sallis.
As Gromit enters the garage whilst Norbot is painting the van, a blue and yellow can labelled 'WG-40' can be seen. This is a play on the well known lubricant oil, 'WD-40', adjusted to match the initials of the show's titular characters.
