Anthony Spadaccini's original approach was more in line with a traditional documentary, until the editing process revealed that a cerebral and surreal approach would fit better.
The events depicted in Post-Mortem take place between June 2006 and December 2007, running concurrent to the events in Head Case (2007), The Ritual (2009), and S.K.I.N.S.: Serial Killers in Need of Support (2009).
The scenes featuring Brinke Stevens, reprising her role as Wayne's mother Julie, were shot on Halloween 2009 during the Chiller Theatre horror convention.
