Despite not being credited by the filmmakers, this film is an obvious remake of the American film, Love in the Afternoon (1957).
Prabhu Deva initially named this film as Paris. It was developed under the title Ich until it was finally renamed Engeyum Kadhal in 2010. The name was changed in order to seek tax exemption.
