Zombies have existed almost since the beginning of cinema history. And no matter how many creative ways people have killed them over the years, those zombies just keep returning to the silver screen. Perhaps one of the most unique aspects of the zombie subgenre is that, with many of the films, screenwriters have concocted new causes for the initial zombie outbreak. Due to long-standing folkloric traditions, we all know how one becomes a vampire or how one becomes a werewolf. But with zombie films, we have the element of surprise on our side.
Through the years, we have seen zombie outbreaks occur due to voodoo and black magic, nuclear accidents and radioactivity, plagues, and—more recently—sexually transmitted disease. The Hideout (2014), however, keeps things a bit more simple. Filmed in Antelope Valley, the cause of the zombie outbreak in this new release is that good old California sunshine.

A 'Paranormal Activity' spoof you say!? Well isn't that just brimming over with originality. Roger Roth's 'Paranormal Whacktivity' (yes, I know) is the latest to join the long queue of achingly amateurish attempts to shift the creepy experiences of Oren Peli's original found footage horror shocker into the realm of giggles, guffaws and general snickerings. If only the genre wasn't already awash with titles such as Kevin P. Farley's 'Paranormal Movie', porn parody 'Paranormal Activity: A Hardcore Parody', Marlon Wayans' 'A Haunted House', 'Scary Movie 5' and even the dreadful '30 Nights Of Paranormal Activity With The Devil Inside The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo'. The Whack stars Sasha Formoso (below), Patrick Riley, Brianna Nicole, Mighty Mike Murga, Brie Doffing, Jenna Bryant, Sundai Love, Chanel Ryan and Aneliese Roettger amongst others. Check out the one-sheet and trailer below.

Harvey Lowry has come aboard to executive produce Humpty Dumpty 3D alongside Mark Ordesky and Suzanne de Passe. Lowry has an extensive background in special effects at Drac Studios. He's also been producing since 2006, overseeing projects like Night of the Demons , Trailer Park of Terror and the upcoming spoof Paranormal Whacktivity . David Ellis ( The Final Destination ) is still aboard to direct. It's likely a project he'll mull over once he has completed his Untitled Shark Thriller opening this fall. Given Lowry's affiliation with Drac, I think it might be safe to presume they'll be handling practical effects on the project. Humpty Dumpty 3D is the story of two backwood hicks, The Brakk Brothers, who capture an alien female scientist collecting plant samples in...
