This is a cleverly woven little comedy/mystery/thriller. It's a fairly simple premise -- a couple wants to finally get their relationship to end and not repeat their pattern of getting back together, and then some mysterious guests arrive who throw the whole operation for a loop -- (with the most basic of production aspects) that's executed quite well. I mostly enjoyed the snappy dialogue between the two leads, and the acting in particular by the girl. Her character was really interesting to try to figure out, especially by the (surprise) end... The supporting characters were really a nice addition to this film too, as they create a whole slew of twists and turns that rock the couple's lives. All that said, Breakup Mountain has plenty of flaws, mostly due to the near-zero budget of the film. Typically I'd give this fun little indie a 7, but wanted to give the filmmakers here a boost since it seems like they were working with very little. The movie doesn't drag and its pacing keeps accelerating. Again, very simple film, if you appreciate that kind of thing. All in all, a good ride, with a killer score as well.
