In September 2009, Paul Brown was thinking of closing Gallery 63 when he got a phone call from a production company in Los Angeles. He thought they were trying to sell him something and hung up on them. They called back, let Paul know they were serious and sent him a little flip camera to shoot a day of what it was like working at Gallery 63. He sent it back and two days later they called him wanting to start production of the TV show.
Gallery 63 started as a clearing house for Red Baron's Antiques which was owned by Paul Brown's father, Bob. They sold box lots of household goods and cheap furniture and were not making much money. Their business tripled after the success of the TV show.
Contrary to popular belief, Gallery 63 employs about a dozen people full time and not just Paul, Cindy, Jon and Delfino.
