This was the first film in which lead actress Trisha had used her own voice for her character in a movie and actor Kamal Hassan helped her with the dubbing.
Whole movie used live-recording rather than dubbing.
The movie's title is a portmanteau of character names of 3 leads. Mannar, Madhan gopal and Ambujakshi.
A poem written by Kamal was allegedly removed from the film as there were protests that it degrades one of the deities of Hindu religion.
Shoots were subsequently held aboard on a cruise liner from Dubai, and the film was shot across various regions of Europe including Paris and Marseille in France, Barcelona in Spain and Rome and Venice in Italy.
