The Ties That Grind

I love that the DCU is hitting the ground running. I loved the new Superman, and am really looking forward to the rest of Peacemaker S2. It's off to a good start, but episode 1 is not an episode you'd want to watch with family. At least during one scene. I don't know how people will respond to the opening credits of the show this season. Season 1's opening credits were very well liked, and was better than S2's opening, in my opinion.

The entertainment sources that were sent an advanced copy of season 2, didn't get the last 3 episodes. Gunn said it was, at the moment, some of the best work he's done. Plus with how easily things get leaked, keeping the last 3 episodes a secret, is the best way Gunn felt he could keep it under wraps, until they air.

Also, with the trash talk about 30 Seconds to Mars in this episode, I'm guessing James Gunn will not be having Jared Leto reprise his role as the Joker. Hah!

I loved the first episode. It is a great opener to season 2. Jhon Cena's acting skills have grown.

Miss the first season intro tho but this one is also good. I heard it will be emotional than the previous season and I can not wait to watch the next episode.

That specific scene was little unnecessary but ok.

As fun as peacemaker s1 is, i felt like its comedy sometimes undermined the pacing and emotion. It seldom takes itself seriously then the emotional moments feel like tone shock. A rare issue for gunn considering how well he balances humor and heart in his work.

S2e1 is an improvement in every sense. Less jokes but every joke made me laugh.

Pacing is excellent whereas s1 was oft clunky with comedy. Hard hitting emotional scenes from the first episode. This episode sets the stage for a new level of explicit content and i love it.

My only real critique is harcourt. At this point she kinda still feels like the generic strong female character defined by mystery. I know you kinda have to take a while for these slow burn character arcs, and while i did like what they set up in this episode, she is one of the less interesting characters thus far. Time will tell if it's worth it.

Regardless, this was a joy to watch and im so ecstatic for the rest of season 2 and gunn's dcu as a whole.

I had to turn it off at this point. It was so bad. I absolutely loved the first season, so I will try again with this one. But man, that was painfully bad.

You could tell the script wasn't fully fleshed out yet, and Cena and Holland were just improving because neither one was acting naturally or responding normally.

I was all in for this episode. They had a funny beginning. They did a good job explaining things and incorporating James Gunns universe. It was funny but then they threw in the orgy scene. It just seemed very sloppy and it was a weird cut in. It threw me out of the story and they didn't explain it at all. It took me till the very end of the episode to get back into the story. The bar fight scene wasn't good either. Big bad guys drinking bud light?! Don't forget to say it and show the label. Loved the stuff with his dad and brother. That was great. Not a very good start but decent.
