When Danny (Michael Ealy) and Debbie (Joy Bryant) are sitting in their apartment watching television and eating Chinese food, the film that they are watching is the original About Last Night (1986), starring Rob Lowe and Demi Moore.
Michael Ealy was 40 when he played Danny, who is intended to be in his late twenties. Ealy lost over 20 pounds to make himself appear younger.
When Danny tries to make a toast at the Halloween party, he says, "Here's to another night of sexual perversity in Los Angeles." This is a reference to "Sexual Perversity in Chicago", the 1974 play by David Mamet from which both this film and About Last Night (1986) were adapted.
This is the second movie together for Kevin Hart, Michael Ealy and Regina Hall. Previously, they did Think Like a Man (2012).
Bernie (Kevin Hart), Joan (Regina Hall), Danny (Michael Ealy) and Debbie (Joy Bryant) watch No Good Deed (2014) at the cinema.
