At the time, Dhanush was the youngest person to win the National Award for Best Actor when he won for this film.
Dhanush is naturally allergic to birds from his childhood. Though, he managed to hold, carry, and got acquainted with the roosters throughout the movie.
Samuthirakani, Andrea Jeremiah and Radha Ravi rendered their voices for Kishore, Taapsee and Jayabalan, respectively.
Telugu dubbed version "Pandem Kollu" released on 30 January 2015.
