To promote the show's second season, on March 6, 2012, Fran Drescher performed the weddings of three gay couples in New York City in support of her "Love Is Love' Gay Marriage Contest" on Facebook. Drescher received her minister license from the Universal Life Church (ULC).
Initially, TV Land, the cable broadcaster, only ordered 12 episodes for the second season. On April 29, 2012, the network picked up an additional 12 episodes, bringing the final count to 24 episodes. The show was officially cancelled on August 23, 2013.
Several cast members from The Nanny (1993) made guest-star appearances or had recurring roles, such as Charles Shaughnessy and Ann Morgan Guilbert, or Harry Van Gorkum (as Fran's new neighbor) and Renée Taylor (as Dori's neighbor and 'frenemy'), respectively.
