The film takes place in fifteen different cities (as chapters), and each time Daphna is played by a different actress. No characters carry over from each city. This was done so that the filmmakers could easily shoot throughout 2005/06 without having any actors commit for more than a few days. The only exception is Damien Ferland (Oswald Francis), who plays the corrections officer at the beginning of each scene.
The film has a broken, non-chronological narrative, showing random encounters throughout Daphna's life from the years 2000-2015 (except for the prologue, which shows Daphna as a three-year-old in 1985, using archive video of the director's sister).
The actor who plays Detective Lance Vechio is an actual police officer now.
Meghan Duffy' (Dr. Gossard) appears on screen with her sister Dani Duffy (Daphna in Toronto) for the first time here. When they arrived on set, both were convinced they were playing each other's parts.
