Finally! We have a Costa Rican film in which all the elements align to create a wonderful piece. A good screenplay, great actors (specially the little boy, he's amazing!), pristine direction, editing, etc. The movie is entertaining, heart warming, easy to watch and thought provoking. It's a great insight into life in San José, and the way of the "tico", but still dealing with many regional and universal topics. It's truly refreshing to see Latin American films that DON'T focus on extreme poverty, drug addiction, corruption, homosexuality, crime, etc., in order to be artistic or indie. With El Regreso you won't see any of that, as it is just a plain good story of a man coming to terms with his past and rediscovering the beauty in his family, old friends and his home town. I can't wait for Hernan's next film.
So this is provably one of the best movies of Hernan Jimenez, entreteining and well writen. more people SHOULD watch this one.
