According to Whitney Cummings, she was under so much pressure during this series that she rarely slept. An animator was hired to work on each episode frame-by-frame to remove the dark circles under her eyes.
Beverly D'Angelo was originally cast as Whitney's mother and even shot her scenes for the pilot, but she was replaced by Jane Kaczmarek and the scenes were re-shot.
Whitney, Roxanne and Lily are all supposed to be the same age but Rhea Seahorn who plays Roxanne is actually 10 years older than the other actors.
