The hiking scene could have been in any of the mountains around the Vancouver area (Langley is 40-45 minutes outside of Vancouver). The mountains are all part of a temperate rain forest, hence the green moss and lichen on the trees and rocks. The trees are easily 150 feet and more tall and there are lots of rock outcroppings like the one Erin Kapluk's character climbed down to rescue the young girl.
