Seven Seas Entertainment has issued an official statement on Oct 24, 2024, in response to recent reports of harassment directed at employees and contractors involved in their projects.
The publisher stressed its zero-tolerance stance toward bullying.
While the publisher did not specify any particular incident, the statement comes on the back of cover artist Billy Balibally becoming targets of online abuse.
The harassment stems from Balibally’s involvement as the cover artist for the Taiwanese edition of KinnPorsche, a project tainted by controversy involving the novel’s authors, Poi and Yok, collectively known as Daemi.
Several fans had targeted Balibally for their association with the book, despite the artist reiterating they had no direct connection to the disputes surrounding the series.
Seven Seas’ Statement on Harassment
In its statement, Seven Seas explained that those working on their projects are often unfairly blamed for controversies surrounding other parties associated with a title.

Cannes – Looking at the multiple stages of audience ratings from overnights to pre-broadcast, to live, then plus-seven days and plus-28 days, launching a TV show these days is like a multistage rocket getting to the moon,” said Frédéric Vaulpré, vice president at Paris-based research firm Global Audience & Content Evolution (Glance).
He was talking just before his Monday presentation on Global TV Trends at Mipcom, made with Glance head of content insight Avril Blondelot. Images created for the presentation include a rocket with plus-28-days and pre-broadcast for wings, and live forming the spaceship’s body.
“You need reliable data. That’s where we come in. We see the complexity of these ratings,” he said.
At the Monday session, Vaulpré addressed trends in ratings, broadcasting, platforms and streaming before Blondelot looked at the content side of things: Genres that work; upcoming highlights to track.

Chinese-owned video streamer iQiyi has confirmed that it has blocked access in Singapore to ten gay-themed TV series. But it says that the move is temporary.
“The content was temporarily removed in compliance with the Infocomm Media Development Authority’s guidance towards R21 content,” a company spokesman told Variety by email. R21 restricts viewing to people aged over 21.
The shows blocked include iQiyi’s Thai-language original “KinnPorsche and “Until We Met Again” that fall into the ‘Boys Love’ or Bl genre. Soft-core romances between (mostly young and handsome) men have become hugely popular in Southeast Asia. And much of the audience for them is adult and female.
The Singapore government recently said that it will continue to restrict and classify media content with LGBTQ themes, even after its planned decriminalization of same-sex relationships.
The move to repeal a colonial-era law that criminalized sex between men was announced in August by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
