These anime films can also be considered as the fifth and final season of Sailor Moon Crystal (2014), as this finishes up what that series has started in rebooting the Sailor Moon anime with a more faithful adaption of the manga, as the first three story arcs were released there followed by this films' predecessor Sailor Moon Eternal (2021) which had the fourth story arc.
Keiko Kitagawa, who voiced Sailor Cosmos, had previously played Rei Hino/ Sailor Mars in Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon.
Aside from voicing Sailor Moon, Kotono Mitsuishi also voices Chibi Chibi/Chibi Chibi Moon, a role she also did in the original anime as well.
This is going to be part 1 of a two part adaptation of the "Sailor Wars" storyline. After the two movies, every main story arc has been adapted from Sailor Moon (with the exceptions of the short stories and Codename Sailor V).
This will be the first time the Eternal Power-Ups for the Inner and Outer Sailor Soldiers, along with Sailor Chibi Moon are seen in an anime format. This is due to the fact in the original Sailor Moon (1992) anime, the Eternal Power-Up was exclusive to Sailor Moon only.
