"I mean, it's still early days, but we are actively working on breaking the season and starting to figure that out," he explained. "So it's definitely moving forward. I mean, it's like, they put it on a fast track, and they seem to mean it. So, yeah, we're in it."

It's clearly still very early days for Creature Commandos season 2. Plus, with Superman and Peacemaker season 2 in post-production, it might be tough for creator James Gunn to find the time to write the series as quickly as some fans would like.

The opening credits of "Creature Commandos" is a roll-call of the offbeat cast set to classic Venezuelan song "Moliendo Café." The last figure in the call is series creator, and new DC Universe architect, James Gunn. The animated Gunn is sitting at his laptop, writing the script for the "Creature Commandos" episode we're about to see. If you thought Gunn would be hands off with the show, think again. The series has his thumbprint over each key frame of animation and syllable of dialogue.

So far, "Creature Commandos" has the pop music needle drops that Gunn has been writing his superhero movies to since "Guardians of the Galaxy." I've been a fan of Jason Statham action films right from the beginning, even as he was finding his feet with efforts like 2001's Ghosts of Mars. The arrival of Peacemaker season 2 is getting closer for the DC Universe audience as James Gunn announces a big update for John Cena's TV show. Gunn's DC Universe is set to kick off in December 2024 with the Creature Commandos premiere on Max, and more 2025 projects are also getting ready for their debuts next year, including Peacemaker season 2. While plot details on Peacemaker season 2 have been limited, a new status report is boding well for the show's return next year.

After shooting for more than half a year, Gunn announced on social media that Peacemaker season 2 has officially wrapped filming, with the DC Studios co-ceo having pulled double-duty throughout 2024 by directing episodes of the new season while also working on Superman. Some still stand out from the crowd, and I've always believed Noriko Ashida, aka Surge, to be one of them. From her early days as an Academy X student to recently joining Forge's X-Force, she's been a personal favorite, and I'm left shocked and disappointed by her recent death in X-Force.

X-Force #5 continues the teams battle against the ultra-strong Nuklo as he attempted to link Nexus Points and bring untold numbers of monsters into the world. It was a dire situation (as they always are), with Nuklo's only real weakness being electricity. As all the other heroes failed, I could see a huge heroic moment on the horizon for Nori.

I wasn't wrong, but I didn't expect it to cost her life when the new X-Force is just beginning.
