A superbly stylish historical drama set during the Warring States Period of the late 1500s. The struggle for absolute supremacy stood between two powerful warlords, Takeda Shingen, and Oda Nobunaga, in an attempt to finish off his rival, Takeda sends his feared master ninja Chidoken to assassinate Oda Nobunaga. The rival clan however sends out its own agents tasked with hunting down the deadly assassin before he strikes... With an outstanding cast and accentuated with a haunting harmonica laced score, The Third Ninja is an exciting action packed tale, a multi layered morally ambiguous story of dark intrigue. Wonderfully innovative sequences abound, the compelling adventure film is a superior espionage thriller highlighted with deeply drawn characters providing a rich emotional layer, exhilarating ninja shadow skills, shuriken fights and terrific sword duels. Highly Recommended !!
