Kim Kane interests me as a filmmaker, but her work to date is prone to navel-gazing combined with bottom of the barrel gonzo sex, a deadly combination. This pretentious, 3-hour junker in a Vivid series devoted to trendy interracial sex is tough to watch.
She even mixes Super 8mm footage with HDV, and plenty of black and white sequences to add a patina of artiness to tedious gonzo action. Her mystical voice-over narration for a lenghty erotic fantasy of getting d.p.'d by a couple of BBCs (Tee Reel and Jon Jon) is embarrassing. So to is grafted on BDSM content, with Lily LaBeau as a pony girl man-handled near the stables by a formidable Black dominatrix in the form of Nyomi Banxxx.
Despite the title, considerable IR action is with a Black actress at work, not just Nyomi but Skin Diamond and her real-life girlfriend Asphyxia Noir. They are covered with ugly body paint, and Kane's celebration of ugliness extends to two major sex scenes staged in the bathroom. Anal sex predominates here, and Vivid's shift to bareback sex in its waning years as a DVD distributor strikes a commercial note - nearly all of the label's classic features were shot with safe-sex condoms the rule.
