Anna is used to make her own way in this world. Denying herself everything, she is the only one in the family who works, takes care of her mother and sister. Anna's sister, Maria, is her exact opposite. Dad's little girl, she is used to getting all the best. Maria easily snatches Anna's boyfriend, Yuri, who is actually not interested in Maria or Anna, but in Moscow registration. But more to come - one day a strange man comes visit Anna saying that he is her real father. The only thing he wants is her forgiveness. He is gravely ill and soon dies. The inheritance left after him bugs Anna's relatives, and the newly made Muscovite Yuri again tries to change one sister for another, breaking Maria's heart now. The suffering of both sisters makes one think that it is better - to earn what we get or to receive gifts of fate? Anna and Maria themselves cannot answer this question until the very end of the story, each dreaming of swapping places with her sister. The main thing is to be in peace and harmony with oneself, not trying to please anyone.
