I had the opportunity of watching the full Season One on BluRay at the FilmBar in Phoenix. I invited several of my friends to go with me, having no idea in advance if they would enjoy the series or not. Every episode had the audience laughing. Adam Rini goes above and beyond in this role, and shows his incredible talent as an actor. The script is a lot of fast moving one-liners and situational humor that is sure to get anyone chuckling. The real surprise came from the comments and questions after the screening. People wanted to know why this series is not more popular and better know. They were surprised such quality could come from a no-budget series, and I can only imagine what Season Two will have to offer. I do sincerely hope that Voyage Trekkers gets the recognition it deserves, so more people will see what they are missing!

Voyage Trekkers stands on its own merits as an original comedy franchise that uses space exploration as a vehicle to exploit all facets of science fiction genres for humor and unique adventure. The series instantly evolves the classic archetype characters from space dramas past by stretching them to expose their fundamental flaws and weaknesses. Already the first season skillfully narrates the interaction of these flawed characters blundering within the rich and turbulent universe created by writer Nathan Blackwell. Voyage Trekkers produces one of the most original comedy visions in modern internet entertainment programing today.
I only have one questions, when will there be a feature movie?

I went to a screening of the first few episodes of Voyage Trekkers pretty much blind. I saw a blurb about it on the website for FilmBar and was very intrigued, but had never heard of Squishy Studios or seen any of their films. The concept for the series, however, was so intriguing that I couldn't resist. We've seen plenty of shows about the best crew in a star fleet. I was ready to see what the worst crew had to offer! I've seen the series in its entirety several times over by now, and each time I find more and more evidence of how well-made and professional it is. The actors' timing, the editing, the direction, the concept, the individual stories, everything is pure genius with this web series! Season 2 can't come soon enough!

After I saw the first episode and met Nathan, I just had to become involved. I'm hard to please when it comes to comedy, but, this series makes me laugh every time. Finally I was able to work as crew. It's amazing to watch as the production day flies by. The process of converting everyday items into controls and other space related widgets is nothing short of genius and the cast works so well together. The writing is brilliant and challenges you to find references to other shows or movies. Many times there is so much improvisation going on, that is flawlessly inserted, it's impossible to tell it wasn't original script. I dare you to try to watch just one episode. You won't be able to.
To call Voyage Trekkers "just another Star Trek parody" would be a grave over-simplification. Not only does this web series give us twisted and hilarious buffoonery a la "Arrested Development," but it's clear that the creative team is also passionate about the corn-ball sci-fi genre. Sure, there are wonderful references to Star Trek and Star Wars (as we hope and expect), but watch closely and you'll notice that they even go so far as to pay homage to early Flash Gordon serials. For such a low budget web series, Squishy Studios seems to squeeze every penny to make sure the production value is top-notch. Everything from the special effects work to the cinematography to the music score and sound design make me excited to see what the future holds for the series. For me, Voyage Trekkers is full of smart comedy as well as respect for the shows it draws its parody from. And that's definitely some serious respect I can laugh at.

For anyone who loved Galaxy Quest, or can find the lighter side to television sci-fi in the last few decades, Voyage Trekkers is the perfect response. The cast form a great ensemble with the indie production talents of Squishy Studios, marshaled by Nathan Blackwell. I discovered Voyage Trekkers by accident in 2011 and was excited to see a second series announced last year. The passion for the subject matter shows through in each episode, even down to the CGI and set design. The characters and stories, though gag driven, start to endear themselves to the audience as the series develops, particularly in season 2 where some depth to Captain Sunstrike is added. Voyage Trekkers is begging to be given the big budget movie treatment, but for now its serialized format suits it well as an internet series. Easily my favorite production for the web and worth your time checking out! 10/10
