A young North American Indian woman, Stakaya, has strange, recurring dreams that turn out to be visions. Stakaya dreams of being chased by a black wolf. When her dreams impact her waking life, she decides to confront the black wolf. When she confronts the black wolf, her true spirit animal, the white wolf, appears and scares the black wolf away. The white wolf leads her to the spirit of her great, great grandfather, Komonake, who offers her an eagle feather. When she accepts the feather, her spirituality opens up completely. Upon waking, Stakaya finds she has invited the spirit of Komonake to walk with her in her waking life. Komonake shows Stakaya how to prevent certain people from dying 'before it is their time'.
