The real-life owner of the building that served as the exterior for Carrie Bradshaw’s apartment in Sex and the City has been granted permission to build a gate in front of the property to prevent fans from climbing on its front steps and disrupting residents.

The building’s owner, Barbara Lorber, asked the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission for permission to build a structure in front of the apartment that has become a “global tourist destination,” she wrote in a letter. Lorber explained that incessant visits from tourists became a disruption for residents even with a “Private Property — No Trespassing” sign and chain posted at the bottom of the building’s steps.

“After 20-plus years of hoping the fascination with my stoop would die away and fans would find a new object for their devotion, I have acknowledged we need something more substantial,” she added in the letter.

Sex & The City is one of the biggest shows of the late ’90s to early ’00s, and continues to have a big impact on pop culture.

The HBO series follows the lives of four women – Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Samantha (Kim Cattrall), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte (Kristin Davis) – in their mid-thirties and forties as they navigate sex, love and heartbreak in the city.

The series premiered in June of 1998 and ran through February of 2004, spawning two feature films, a prequel series (The Carrie Diaries) and, most recently, a continuation series called And Just Like That on Max.

Debuting on NBC soon from writers Jenna Bans and Bill Krebs, the upcoming drama centers on four members of a suburban garden club who are connected thanks to a murder they have to keep hidden. But the dark truth soon begins to emerge, threatening the lives that they've built for themselves. The cast is led by AnnaSophia Robb (The Carrie Diaries), Melissa Fumero (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Aja Naomi King (How to Get Away with Murder), and Ben Rappaport (Mr. Robot).

The teaser trailer for Grosse Pointe Garden Society, ahead of the show's debut on NBC on Sunday, February 23 at 10 Pm Et. The teaser runs for roughly a minute, highlighting that the four friends have a lot of secrets to hide even beyond murder. It also highlights the familiar cast of TV stars, albeit in some very different roles.

It’s hard to get a read on a show from a 60-second trailer, but the hook is compelling, and the cast is an embarrassment of riches, meaning we should be in for one of the more buzzy shows of the 2024-25 TV season.

NBC on Friday released the first trailer for the forthcoming drama, which premieres Sunday, Feb. 23, at 10/9c. (People was the first to report the news.) In the series, a group of suburbanites reveal the first rule of their local gardening club: Everyone must have each others’ backs. Shouldn’t be too hard, in theory, except that Grosse Pointe Garden Society looks like it’s dealing with homicide, arson and more seedy misbehavior. (Oh my!)

NBC is getting its hands good and dirty with a series order for Grosse Pointe Garden Society, a new drama about the scandalous goings-on of a suburban garden club, TVLine has learned.

Written by Jenna Bans (Desperate Housewives, Scandal, Good Girls) and Bill Krebs (No Tomorrow, Good Girls), the series focuses on four very different members of the titular garden club who “get caught up in murder and mischief as they struggle to make their conventional lives bloom,” per the official synopsis.

Austin Butler revealed in a video interview with BuzzFeed that he unsuccessfully auditioned to play Peeta in “The Hunger Games” franchise. AnnaSophia Robb has been cast in a lead role of the NBC drama pilot “Grosse Pointe Garden Society,” Variety has learned.

NBC ordered the pilot back in February. The logline states, “Four members of a suburban garden club, all from different walks of life, get caught up in murder and mischief as they struggle to make their conventional lives bloom.”

Robb will star as Alice, described as “your favorite high school English teacher, a dreamer whose best dreams are crashing down on her. She’s a longtime member of the Grosse Pointe Garden Society.”

Robb’s recent credits include Season 1 of “Dr. Death” at Peacock as well as both “The Act” and “Little Fires Everywhere” at Hulu. Her other TV credits include “Mercy Street” and “The Carrie Diaries.” In features, she has starred in projects like “Lansky,” “Words on Bathroom Walls,” “Soul Surfer,” “The Way Way Back,” and “Bridge to Terabithia.
