Like carefully picked posies, Grosse Pointe Garden Society has chosen the cream of the crop to fill out this bouquet of familiar faces from all over the Television spectrum.
But be careful who you pluck. These flowers are more dangerous than meets the eye and might just leave you bleeding.
One thing Grosse Pointe Garden Society has going for it is that it inspires the same feeling of whimsical comedies that are light on the drama but heavy on the killer mysteries.
(Steve Swisher/NBC)
Not only are the characters riddled with layers that keep you guessing who they really are under those forced smiles, but the show itself already hides a mystery in plain sight.

The real-life owner of the building that served as the exterior for Carrie Bradshaw’s apartment in Sex and the City has been granted permission to build a gate in front of the property to prevent fans from climbing on its front steps and disrupting residents.
The building’s owner, Barbara Lorber, asked the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission for permission to build a structure in front of the apartment that has become a “global tourist destination,” she wrote in a letter. Lorber explained that incessant visits from tourists became a disruption for residents even with a “Private Property — No Trespassing” sign and chain posted at the bottom of the building’s steps.
“After 20-plus years of hoping the fascination with my stoop would die away and fans would find a new object for their devotion, I have acknowledged we need something more substantial,” she added in the letter.

NBC is diving into the murderous world of a suburban garden club with Grosse Pointe Garden Society.
Based on the trailer alone, we’re already invested.
It’s hard to get a read on a show from a 60-second trailer, but the hook is compelling, and the cast is an embarrassment of riches, meaning we should be in for one of the more buzzy shows of the 2024-25 TV season.

According to NBC, the new one-hour drama “follows four members of a suburban garden club who find their lives intertwined by scandal, mischief, and a shared secret — a murder no one wants to talk about.”
Oh my!
“As dark truths begin to rot their lives under the surface, they try to struggle to remain as perfect as the flowers blooming in the garden above.”

Grosse Pointe Garden Society is taking root amid murder and mayhem.
NBC on Friday released the first trailer for the forthcoming drama, which premieres Sunday, Feb. 23, at 10/9c. (People was the first to report the news.) In the series, a group of suburbanites reveal the first rule of their local gardening club: Everyone must have each others’ backs. Shouldn’t be too hard, in theory, except that Grosse Pointe Garden Society looks like it’s dealing with homicide, arson and more seedy misbehavior. (Oh my!)

Networks like the CW, Freeform and Fox were once a treasure trove of teen TV, with slates packed with series like “The O.C.,” “Gossip Girl,” “Pretty Little Liars” and “90210.” But as younger audiences completely shun linear, these networks have largely abandoned teen programming.
Ratings for the CW and Freeform, two networks that used to be teen-centric, dropped 30% and 22%, respectively, from 2022 to 2023.
Today streaming is a haven for YA programs viewers once found on network TV. Prime Video tested the waters with series like “The Summer I Turned Pretty” while Netflix produced young audience movies like “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before.” Now both streamers have bolstered their teen slates with Prime Video’s recent reboot of ‘90s cult classic “Cruel Intentions” and Netflix’s series “My Life With the Walter Boys,” “Heartstopper,” “Sex Education,” “Xo Kitty” and “Ginny and Georgia.”

Austin Butler starred in The Dead Don't Die five years ago, and his status in Hollywood has never been the same. The actor made his debut in Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide in 2005 when he was 14 years old. He continued landing small TV roles for a while. Butler eventually gained more recognition in the 2010s for his roles as Sebastian Kydd in The Carrie Diaries on The CW and Wil Ohmsford in MTV's The Shannara Chronicles. However, Butler's acting career truly took off after appearing in The Dead Don't Die in the late 2010s.
Austin Butler is set to star in two upcoming films — Ari Aster's Eddington (a contemporary Western black comedy) and Darren Aronofsky's Caught Stealing (a crime thriller based on Charlie Huston's 2004 book of the same name). As of the writing of this article, neither have release dates.

Austin Butler has been actively working in front of the camera since 2005, but his breakout role did not come until 2022. The early days of his acting career happened while he was still a teenager and he did a lot of background work in school scenes for Nickelodeon programming originally before becoming a staple in children’s sitcoms like Zoey 101, iCarly, Hannah Montana, and Wizards of Waverly Place. Getting to work on some of the most popular children’s programs of all time helped to build a foundation for the skills he continues to use as an adult.
Butler’s breakout role, despite his steady stream of work (including a 2018 Broadway debut) for nearly 20 years, happened in 2022’s Elvis. That is likely the role he will be known for in years to come other than a certain generation that will recognize him from family movies like Aliens in the Attic or...

Did You Know? Austin Butler Auditioned For Peeta In The Hunger Games—But Didn’t Even Get A Callback!
Austin Butler Auditioned for Peeta in Hunger Games ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
So, here’s a fun nugget: Austin Butler once auditioned for Peeta in The Hunger Games—but struck out. In a chat with BuzzFeed, Butler spilled the beans, saying, “I auditioned for ‘The Hunger Games,’ and I didn’t get it at all… I don’t even think I got a callback; what’s the character, Peeta? Josh Hutcherson got that, he’s great.” Yep, the role that launched Hutcherson into the spotlight was almost his, but not everyone gets a callback, right?
While Butler was getting his start on Zoey 101, iCarly, and The Carrie Diaries, Hutcherson was becoming a global sensation. But no worries—Butler’s doing just fine. He’s about to take on Dune: Part Two in 2024, so… no hard feelings about Peeta.
And it turns out Butler wasn’t alone in the “almost” club.

After season 1 aired in 2007 on the CW, Gossip Girl quickly became one of the most popular teen TV shows. Created by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, Gossip Girl's main characters were wealthy Manhattan teenagers who regularly got into trouble and plotted against each other to gain power and popularity. The eponymous Gossip Girl was a mysterious blogger who narrated the students' most dramatic secrets. Throughout the show's six seasons, audiences were kept on the edge of their seats waiting to see what the characters would do next and hoping to catch clues about Gossip Girl's identity.
Despite the show's popularity with audiences, Gossip Girl ended after six seasons, creating fitting endings for each characters' storyline and finally exposing Gossip Girl's identity to the characters and audience. However, because of the show's shortened season length for its final season, Gossip Girl left its original fans and, more recently,...

HBO's Sex and the City continues to resonate with generations of viewers for its exploration of female friendships and sexuality. Recently, Sex and the City became a streaming hit yet again on Netflix. The show's famously complicated protagonist, Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), is based on real-life columnist Candace Bushnell, who also wrote about sex and relationships, and even used the name Carrie as a pseudonym in her column. A number of ensemble cast members of Sex and the City, including Mr. Big, also have real-life counterparts.
While writing the real "Sex and The City" column for The New York Observer from 1994-1996, Candace Bushnell was allegedly in a tumultuous relationship with Ron Galotti, a publishing executive behind GQ and Talk magazines. Unlike Carrie, Bushnell did not end up with Galotti and instead married principal ballet dancer Charles Askegard in 2002. The couple went on to divorce in 2012, marking yet another...

The Sex and the City franchise follows Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) through decades of her life, from a single woman in her 30s, to a widow in her 50s. The series is based on Candace Bushnells semi-autobiographical book Sex and the City, detailing the relationships and lifestyles of her and her friends, who would later go on to fictionally become Carrie Bradshaw, Samantha Jones, Charlotte York, and Miranda Hobbes. As narrator of the series through her columns, Carrie takes the audience through her life as a professional woman in the big city, as well as (of course), her love life.

“Emily in Paris” Season 4 delivered just the right amount of chaos, high fashion and whimsy we needed as the summer comes to a close.
But, with just five episodes in Season 4 Part 1, this season of the Netflix drama is ready to be binged in mere hours. Luckily, Part 2, which will include the latter five episodes of Season 4, will return on Sept. 12.
In the meantime, “Emily in Paris” creator Darren Star has plenty of lighter fare shows full of great fashion from “Sex and the City” — and its later offshoot “The Carrie Dairies” — to “Younger.” If you watch the Lily Collins-lead series for escapism, campy comedies like “Dollface” or “Drop Dead Diva” might also scratch the whimsical itch.

Emily in Paris became one of Netflix’s biggest hit series upon its release but I think it was also one of the most hated shows. Created by Darren Star, the romantic-comedy series stars Lily Collins as the title character, and the series is filled with stunning scenery, glamorous fashion moments, and beautiful and delicious-looking food. The first part of Emily in Paris Season 4 was recently released on Netflix with Part 2 coming out in September this year. The role ultimately went to Josh Hutcherson, who starred in four “Hunger Games” movies between 2012 and 2015 opposite Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss and Liam Hemsworth as Gale. The franchise turned the three actors into global stars.
“I auditioned for ‘The Hunger Games’ and I didn’t get it at all,” Butler said. “I don’t even think I got a call back, what’s the character, Peeta? Josh Hutcherson got that, he’s great.”
Butler was joined in the BuzzFeed video interview by his “The Bikeriders” co-star Jodie Comer, who revealed she has also missed out on a big franchise: “I auditioned for ‘Mamma Mia!’ That was a time, That was also when I was auditioning for ‘Killing Eve’ as well.”

AnnaSophia Robb’s attendance at Chanel and Tribeca’s Women’s luncheon during the 2024 Tribeca Film Festival demonstrated how much her portrayal of Carrie Bradshaw in The Carrie Diaries influenced her style.
Wearing socks with heels has long been a controversial fashion statement. While some consider it tacky and a fashion faux pas, others think it’s chic and modern. Pairing such can be pretty challenging for me, too. To pull it off, though, I think it comes down to confidence and a sense of style. Needless to say, AnnaSophia Robb has both!

Carrie Bradshaw is portrayed differently in the prequel series, The Carrie Diaries, with a more optimistic and innocent personality. The portrayal of Carrie's past relationships, especially her first time, is notably different between Sex And The City and The Carrie Diaries. Carrie's family background, including her parents and sister, is altered significantly in The Carrie Diaries compared to Sex And The City.
When the public first discovered a prequel to Sex And The City was being made in 2013, fans of the franchise were ecstatic. On the other hand, given that Sex And The City was an HBO show and The Carrie Diaries would be on The CW, it was evident that the stories would be a tad altered. While the HBO series focused on Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) and her friends navigating New York in their thirties, The Carrie Diaries saw Carrie (AnnaSophia Robb) as a high school student...

Casting the right actor as Fred Jones for Netflix's live-action Scooby-Doo show is crucial for setting the tone of the series. The portrayal of Fred as either intelligent, bossy, or ignorant will influence fans' expectations for the entire show. Actors like Jacob Elordi, Charles Melton, and Joe Keery are potential fits for the role.
Not much is known about Netflix's upcoming live-action Scooby-Doo show, but casting the right actor to play Fred Jones will be vital. There have been plenty of different Scooby-Doo shows and movies since the characters first appeared in 1967, but Netflix's new series will be the first live-action show. This makes casting even more important than usual, since fans will likely form opinions about the entire show based on the actors.
Fred is the charismatic leader of the Mystery Gang. He's usually the one driving the Mystery Machine, and he makes a lot of the gang's key decisions.

“I think I must make a stank face,” she joked. “I loved high school,” AnnaSophia added.
“Everyone always asks me if the other kids treated me differently because of my career, but they didn’t. If you act weird, people are going to treat you weird, but if you’re just yourself, people respond to that.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine alumna Melissa Fumero, AnnaSophia Robb (The Act) and Ben Rappaport (For the People) are set as leads in Grosse Pointe Garden Society, NBC’s drama pilot from Jenna Bans, Bill Krebs and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.

Sex and the City was a smash hit for HBO. Premiering in 1998, the series ran for six seasons, spawned two movies (although we'd prefer to forget that the second one ever came out), and a prequel series (The Carrie Diaries on The CW).
And while there was great excitement over And Just Like That..., the reboot was somewhat marred from the outset with the harassment allegations against Chris Noth, the lack of Samantha (Kim Cattrall), and the introduction of the polarizing Che Diaz.
The series has expanded its circle of friends from the original, bringing in Seema, Nya, and Lisa as foils and sidekicks for Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte, respectively.
Long-time fans enjoyed seeing Anthony find a new partner and learning more about Stanford's life in Japan. Season 2 of And Just Like That... also saw much growth from our leading ladies.
Carrie found and then lost Aidan, at least for the time being.

Apple TV+ series “Masters of the Air” is the third collaboration from the team behind HBO’s “Band of Brothers” and “The Pacific.” Trio Tom Hanks, Gary Goetzman and Steven Spielberg produced the nine-part World War II epic series, which spotlights the men who fought in the 8th Air Force, specifically the men of the 100th Bomb Group. The vivid and vital story finds roots in the book of the same name by Donald L. Miller.
The crew of a typical Eighth Air Force heavy bomber plane included ten men — a pilot and his co-pilot flying the B17, the navigator and the bombardier in the machine’s nose, the flight engineer behind the pilot, the radio operator, two waist gunners, a ball turret gunner and a tail gunner. Not to mention the men who strategized from the bases, the plane engineers and Tuskegee airmen or Royal Airforce pilots who feature in this story.

The Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg-produced World War II series Masters of the Air has something that its predecessors did not: a bona fide movie star in the lead role. Austin Butler's impressive Rotten Tomatoes streak could continue with his upcoming projects Masters of the Air and Dune: Part Two. Despite receiving a lower 77% critical rating, Butler's performance in Elvis won him an Academy Award and garnered a high audience score of 94%. Austin Butler has grown from a child actor to a Hollywood movie star, asserting himself as a vital portion of the films he's in. Butler's early work involved television, but his passions lie in cinema, and he has landed roles in smaller movies as well. Butler's best films give insight into his capability as an actor, with notable performances in movies like "Elvis" where he gives a life-changing portrayal of the iconic singer.
Austin Butler has long been known as a film and television star, but as he establishes himself further as a serious actor, the number of quality movies he has been in has only increased. Though not always the lead in these films, Butler asserts himself as a vital portion of the film and always manages to steal the scenes he's in. It's easy to imagine that the list of great films he has participated in will grow as his career progresses.

When Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage launched The O.C. in 2003, it would change TV — and teen dramas — forever.
It’s a winding journey that the duo captured with the help of Alan Sepinwall, Rolling Stone’s chief TV critic, in Welcome to The O.C.: The Oral History. Across 11 chapters — and a prologue that teases the wild ride — the trio, along with the cast, writers, crew members, producers, journalists, fans and studio and network executives, trace the show from its early origins to its very last days on set, and beyond.
Not only would the show bring Savage and Schwartz together in what has become one of TV’s most fruitful partnerships with Fake Empire Productions, but it would go on to inspire a library of young adult shows, from Gossip Girl (and its reboot) and The Carrie Diaries to Marvel’s Runaways and Looking for Alaska; multiple reality...
