October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and we’re highlighting a few celebrities who have bravely battled breast cancer -- and won.

1. Sheryl Crow. The 52-year-old was diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2006 and has become a huge activist for activist for early detection. Et spoke with her doctor, Dr. Kristi Funk, who explained just what could have happened to the singer if she didn’t get diagnosed when she did. “The truth is, a mammogram saved her life,” Funk revealed. “She's very vocal about that. She is the poster child for early detection.”

In his new Digital Media Agent post at UTA, online media veteran Greg Goodfried will focus on growing the agency’s digital practice and creating new digital revenue streams for UTA clients. Prior to joining UTA the veteran digital media exec, who co-created the LonelyGirl15 viral phenomenon, also co-founded digital branding firm Eqal which produced Kraft Foods’ “Real Women of Philadelphia” campaign, “Walk with Walgreens,” and LaurenConrad.com. Eqal was sold to Everyday Health in 2012. Goodfried joins a digital media team at UTA that reps content creators and digital production companies, provides strategic advising to consumer and corporate clients, and has worked with the likes of AwesomenessTV, iJustine, Shane Dawson, Dolby, and the Consumer Electronics Association. UTA’s digital wing also co-founded the Viterbi Start-Up Garage fostering digital start ups with Kleiner Perkins and USC.

The Young and the Restless tallied 23 nominations as honors were announced this morning for the 40th annual Daytime Emmy Awards. Restless’ impressive take helped CBS lead all networks with 50 overall nominations. PBS and ABC followed, with 44 and 38 nods, respectively.

General Hospital, which earned 19 nominations, joined Restless in the race for Outstanding Drama Series, and Sesame Street received 17 nods, including three for Kevin Clash, the voice of Elmo who faces allegations of sexual misconduct.

Good Morning America and Today will bring their ratings rivalry to the Emmys, where they’ll be joined by CBS Sunday Morning in the Outstanding Morning Program category.

It’s no secret that Tinseltown does a number on relationships, and it seems Jenna Morasca and Ethan Zohn have thrown in the towel on their longtime romance.

The “Survivor” alums (who went on to star in “The Amazing Race” and “Everyday Health”) released a statement today to confirm their breakup.

ABC’s General Hospital leads the way with 23 nominations for Daytime Emmy Awards.

The television academy announced Wednesday that the venerable soap opera will compete with NBC’s Days of Our Lives, CBS’ The Young and the Restless and the canceled All My Children of ABC for best daytime drama. NBC’s The Bold and the Beautiful has won the trophy three years in a row but wasn’t nominated this year.

Other repeat winners are possible, though: Ben Bailey of Cash Cab was nominated for best game show host and Dr. Mehmet Oz as best talk show host.

Survivor Africa winner and generally amazing person Ethan Zohn will get his second stem cell transplant today, part of his treatment for the recurrence of cancer. Survivor Amazon winner and Ethan's girlfriend Jenna Morasca is tweeting updates. Earlier this month, he told his show Everyday Health, "I'm extremely ... I'm scared. I'm nervous. I'm anxious. Former "Survivor" winner Ethan Zohn proved that he can take anything in stride at the Ing New York City Marathon Sunday when he finished the 26.2-mile race at a 4:20:46 run time. The race, Zohn's second, was made more emotional by the recent news that Zohn was once again battling Hodgkin's lymphoma, which had returned to his chest on September 14th, according to People magazine. "I don't want fear or cancer to define me, but it's always in the back of your mind," he told the publication.

That triumph of mind was made clear yesterday when Zohn -- a cofounder of Grassroot Soccer and host of ABC's "Everyday Health" -- completed the run with wife Jenna Morasca (who met Zohn, and subsequently got engaged to, on "Survivor") rooting for him on the sidelines. "I never have any doubt that he's going to overcome any obstacles he's presented with," she told People.

When former Survivor winner Ethan Zohn first learned that his Hodgkin's lymphoma had returned, "I was just angry," he tells People. "I was scared that I was going to die." "I felt like defeated almost because I was back in action," Zohn continues.
