This show was very fun back in 2014 and had pretty good episodes, not really good jokes and solid animation. This is very nostalgic to those who watched it like me.

'Scaredy Squirrel' (2011-2013)
Opening thoughts: While there are far worse animated shows out there ('Johnny Test', 'Uncle Grandpa', 'Angela Anaconda', 'Breadwinners', 'Problem Solverz', 'Fanboy and Chum Chum', 'Chalkzone', 'The Cleveland Show' for examples), 'Scaredy Squirrel' still isn't good. As far as Nelvana's output goes, it is for me definitely in the lesser end and actually had a hard time believing that it came from them, with them being responsible for gems like 'The Magic School Bus', 'Babar', 'Redwall' and 'Rupert'. This could easily pass for past prime Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon, and it would be understandable if anybody ever mistook it as one of theirs.
Good things: Oddly enough, there are good things with 'Scaredy Squirrel'. The voice acting is game with the voice actors doing all they can injecting some degree of energy into their very tired material. Did like the backgrounds, which does have some nice colour and detail.
Some of the music is quite cool. That is pretty much it with the redeeming qualities.
Bad things: Even as a child, the characters all bored and irritated me and not only are they still both those things they are even more so. The character interaction lacks wit and any kind of connection, with not much chemistry. Friendships don't feel like friendships and any antagonism lacks tension and is very predictable.
Furthermore, there is an over-reliance on the cruder style of humour in the writing and it all came over as juvenile and lacking in taste as well as mean spirited. The writing is also very generic and bland with no surprises, with it being too juvenile for older audiences and younger audiences will find that too much of it will go over their heads, so target audience is an issue. The generic blandness and repetition is present in the storylines which does nothing with a decent premise. Nothing original whatsoever. Despite some nice backgrounds, the animation is not to my tastes. The colours are flat and the character designs hideous.
Closing thoughts: All in all, weak.
3/10.

Hi guys. This is going to be a review of another Canadian cartoon called "Scaredy Squirrel." This show is about a squirrel named Scaredy who along with his skunk friend "Dave." Go on adventures while Scaredy works as a stacker in a supermarket. Unlike with "Almost Naked Animals" before, I've watched this in my youth. When rewatching some episodes for this review. I can safely say. That this cartoon is pretty bad, and hasn't aged well. I can also understand how people see this as a bad Spongebob ripoff.
Let's start off with the animation. Its standard bad flash animation, like with that other Canadian cartoon before. But at least it doesn't get as gross. Now lets go on to the writing. The stories are boring, unoriginal, or ripoff other stories from other cartoons. Like Scaredy meeting his hero in the episode, "Awaken the Stacker Within." But he turns out to be a fraud. Or when Scaredy gets replaced by a robot. Who turns out to be evil, in the episode "Stackinator." Most of the jokes are obnoxious. They mostly involve screaming, overused grossout jokes. Like with the Frog character burping. Or are not funny. But I did laugh a couple of times. Mostly from the bird character, Nestor. Who I'm going to talk about in my character section. The theme song is one of the worst in any cartoon. It mostly consist of Scaredy screaming everywhere.
Lets look at the characters. They are some likable characters in this show. Mainly Scaredy, and Nestor. Scaredy our main character, may at first seem like a Spongebob ripoff. From he's obsessed with stacking in a supermarket. Like how Spongebob is obsessed with cooking Krabby Patties. But he can also think things through, and act as a straight man to Dave, and the rest of his character.
Dave the skunk on the other hand. Is just a Patrick ripoff who causes Scaredy more trouble. Nestor the bird manager may seem like a Squidward ripoff. But I do feel bad for him from his mom. Who is an even bigger jerk. He probably has the funniest scenes out of all characters in the show. The rest of the characters are either just plain idiots, or jerks. Like Dave, and Nestor's mom from earlier. Sally, who has a creepy crush with Scaredy, Paddy the ferret who bullies Scaredy, and the townsfolk, who cause trouble, and can also be meanspirited to Scaredy.
So to summarize this is another bad Canadian cartoon. With bad flash animation. Unoriginal stories. Obnoxious jokes and theme song. Mainly idiotic, and meanspirited characters. But they are some positives like with some jokes being funny. As well as some likable characters like Scaredy, and Nestor. Is this a Spongebob ripoff. Kind of. It depends. While this cartoon is bad. Its better than "Almost Naked Animals. But that is not saying much. So overall I will give this a 3/10.

The dead Squirrel I found decomposing in my backyard was more entertaining than this show.

If you're looking for clever jokes, good animation, and solid voice acting, then you're looking in the wrong place. Scaredy Squirrel is an all-out assault on the eyes and ears, and the humor is unbelievably poor. The writing and animation is so awful that Scaredy is the show's butt monkey. All of the voice actors come across as being extremely uninterested, particularly Nester's voice actor, who sort of sounds like your creepy pedophile neighbor who you rarely see outside his house.
The show's most glaring flaw is its animation, which lacks detail and boasts terrible, childish animation and dull character designs. The show can't even be bothered to add artificial bed urine, so instead we get flat, texture less dirt floors in paddle ball camp. The animation, as I mentioned before, is terrible. Characters move (and act) in childish ways, particularly when making fun of/yelling at Scaredy.
The humor is almost nonexistent. I've seen more episodes of this show than I'd have liked to, and not once have I even managed a chuckle. Any joke that could potentially be even slightly humorous is immediately killed by Nester yelling act Scaredy for doing something stupid, as if the audience is too stupid to get the joke, despite the fact that it's all humor we've seen elsewhere.
Stay away from Sides**t and S**tty Squirrel. There're a complete pile of trash, and that it's still on the air is insulting. The fact that a good amount of people seem to enjoy it is perhaps even more frustrating. Until people start to realize that Sidekick and Scaredy Squirrel series is complete and utter junk, all I can do is cross my fingers and hope that it gets taken of Cartoon Network sometime in the near future.

This show rips off spongebob so many times.I mean come on,can't you come up with more original ideas. Most of the plots are clichéd and so are the characters. Scaredy is a rip off of spongebob, dave is a rip off of patrick ,that yellow angry bird thing(lol, angry birds reference) is a rip off of squidward, that frog girl is basically your average crazy boy obsessed girl that we have seen in many other TV shows and all the other characters have no personality whatsoever.Still, despite what I have said, this show is not that bad.Like I've said before, the animation is decent, the voice acting is also decent, the humour is sometimes dry but sometimes decent and...........that's about it.So bottom line: scaredy squirrel is just one of many mediocre cartoons that I see on TV these days. But I'll give this show credit,it's not as bad as post-season 2 johnny test and ben 10 ultimate alien.

If your looking for a fun time, then I'd say check out Scaredy Squirrel. It's an underrated show but has a lot of good one liners and nice sleek animation. I've only see eight episodes but from what I've seen it's got me yearning for me. Scaredy in himself is a very endearing character. He's funny and cute and the voice work for him in particular is really well done. I'd say he is the best character on the show which is a benefit for him to be the main character. The other supporting characters in particular Dave, Nester and his mother are all memorable enough funny characters who get me to laugh every once in a while. The episodes are nice and bright and some of the gags are quite humorous. I especially like just how fun the show is. Every episode is just packed full of energy and spunk. I think compared to other kid shows like My Little Pony it stacks up pretty well with a more adult centric style so I'd say it'd be enjoyable especially for 7 to ten year olds with also getting a few gags in for older viewers. A fun show all around.

Hmmm, Scaredy Squirrel. I heard this was based off a children's book so they must have captured the essence of that book right?
Right?
Trust the modern Nelvana to create something as ear burningly bad as this show.
Man oh man, if there ever was a show that explains what is wrong with Canadian animation today, then go ahead and put Scaredy Squirrel in my bad books.
Ye are all in for a bad time, your eyes, your ears. Nowt will be spared.
Ready to take on Scaredy's shill, loud and grating voice through these 100 something segments? (What is it with Canadian shows having 2 segments in an episode by the way?)
I hope you are because this unlikeable little sh*t goes through all sorts of crazy slapstick adventures.
He has a starfish who is his best friends and likes being with him, a squid who is annoyed to buggery with him, a squirrel who li....
Hold the phone bud, I'm talking about SpongeBob aren't I? Well my dear person reading this review, that's because the show is nothing more than SpongeBob.
Scaredy's SpongeBob, that bird (whatever his name is) is Patrick, even the supermarket has Krusty Krab written all over it.
The only thing different is the art style and animation of course (though it's the same style that's plagued most Canadian toons these days).
Come to think of it, you're better off watching SpongeBob instead, new ep or not.
Thank god there's a magic thing called "Reruns".

If you're looking for clever jokes, good animation, and solid voice acting, then you're looking in the wrong place. Scaredy Squirrel is an all-out assault on the eyes and ears, and is giving a bad name to Canadian animation, from a studio that made Beetlejuice popular, made a DK animated series that was not famous then but famous now for Expand Dong, and beat Teletoon because of the Milestones they produce over the years,is making a Spongebob Replacement that is more cruel and annoying, like your ears will explode during the theme song, and it sounds like a whaling cat screaming on your mike in the intercom. I have to at least give Pickle and Peanut credit,at least they don't have a Squidward, but in Scaredy Squirrel's Squidward is, Scaredy,I know you'd expect Nestor but nope, Scaredy Squirrel, but he's also New Spongebob for being so annoying and so enlightened that they have a legitimate reason for torturing Scaredy, He's so annoying. In Almost Naked Animals,Howie cause mischief yet some people can't do anything about it like the old Spongebob background characters *note that i don't focus on Spongebob as often as Mr Enter *i despise Mr enter for how serious he is,he's a gay pony lover, and he's a 90's kid,but Jesus, we have to torture Scaredy Squirrel due to the nauseating voice of the announcer of TDI doing his Jar Jar Binks impression. Did if forgot to mention that the voice acting is horrendous, like Dave's voice, its so mind numbing bad that it leaves a pit in my stomach, and when they scream, it sounds like a sonar sound used by an amateur YTP'r that only uses it just to tick people off.The positives are, Patrick McKenna's acting on Nestor was pretty fun to listen to, and so is Jamie Watson voicing Beverley Bigheads bimbo cousin *sorta. In my own opinion, this is the worst Nelvana Production since "the Star Wars Holiday Special", at least it will ward of intruders, but its just so awful.

A high strung comedy that was made by people who obviously don't have kids, or at least don't get kids. Or maybe shows with substance for their kids don't matter to them. Not sure. What I do know is that there is name-calling, lame story lines and no obvious morals to the stories for the most part. The books are much better. I've only seen about two episodes of this series on Netflix, and cannot continue. It's painful!

For some time, a number of users have been negatively comparing Scaredy Squirrel to some stupid limburger. I wonder, where's the logic in that? After seeing a few episodes I don't see any strong similarity.
I think the personalities of Scaredy and Dave is something I've seen in comedies called a double act. In other words, Scaredy is the straight man while Dave is the funny man. For more info about double act, there's an article on it in Wikipedia.
Scaredy is a squirrel who's easily frightened as his name implies. However, he's an expert in organizing and stacking things at a grocery. The limburger is just a quirky blockhead who overcooks pancakes at a bistro.
Dave seems a little dull but nowhere near as dumb as that red spur who is the limburger's best friend.
As for Nestor, I don't think he's based on some moldy sea spider. Nestor is a cynical grocery operator who make things difficult for the employees, particularly Scaredy. The moldy sea spider is just a snobbish dude who wants to be away from the limburger and spur who enjoy toying with him.
I don't know what people have in mind but the way they do their negative comparing is lame

After watching a few episodes online, I find the series (as I said in the title) cute and comical. Some haters say the show borrows a lot from Spongebob. Me, I don't think so. What aspects of this show are they looking at? In fact, I think what's in the series are things very common in most cartoon shows. It is common for characters to become hyperactive and extremely emotional on certain situations.
When I saw some stuff about the show on this website, I develop some curiosity as I'm a bit of a squirrel fan. The show centers on Scaredy Squirrel who goes on slapstick adventures with his best buddy Dave who is a skunk. Scaredy, as the name implies, is a squirrel who can easily be frightened, although he does show some daringness in a lot of cases. Besides daringness, he's also a great stacker and organizer in grocery items.

Before this show, I had $10,000 in debt for my various crimes against humanity. I was just about to commit my end. I decided to watch one more George Clooney classic. I poured my cup of gluten-free, non-trans fat, 100% organic Cyanide, sat down, and watched. After 2 minutes, my depression cleared, I lost 15,000 lbs, and got a smoking hot boyfriend named Phillip (I'm a homosexual by the way). I got completely engrossed with this 79 volume thriller from the brilliant minds of Studio Ghibli and the dashing George Clooney. My pee was no longer purple green. Scaredy woke up all my 89 year old sex organs and my Viagra is no longer necessary (though its always good for seeing things) I got the idea to show this to the judge who appointed me my debt. He loved it too, and to thank me, he took 10 cents off my debt and gave me 15 bus tokens (valid for 4 miles of less for free) Thank you, Scaredy. Thank you, George Clooney.
also I've started a go fund me to pay for passes to thank Clooney personally.

Upon seeing some episodes on the web, I would say the show is as good as any cartoon series. I wonder why a lot of detractors say the show is copying a ridiculous talking block of cheese? Whatever those simpletons are saying, it doesn't seem to make any sense. I sometimes think most cartoon shows are presented in similar style and tone. The style of that talking cheese is probably based on some earlier shows.
The series shows the bizarre tales of a squirrel and his skunk pal. The squirrel also has a job at a grocery under a cynical supervisor.
A with every animated series, viewers can have a variety of views on a certain show. But if you're someone who adores squirrels, then this show is for you.
