In shengi, which is the street language used in the slums of Kenya, Burungo means two things; 'girl' or 'merchandise'. This is a story about a family consisting of a mother, a father and six children. The story takes place in one day, during which the two daughters in their early teens try to find the money to buy their Mom a new dress. But earning a dime in the slums of Nairobi is difficult and dangerous.
