Fast National ratings for Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013
The country had better things to do on Christmas night than park itself in front of the TV, and ratings were unsurprisingly low across the board for the broadcast networks as they all aired full slates of repeats.
The night's top performers were "Blue Bloods" on CBS, which led the viewer race, and "The Middle" and "Modern Family" on ABC, which had the best 18-49 performance in primetime.
CBS averaged 4.6 million viewers and a 2.8 rating/5 share in households. NBC (3 million, 1.9/4) came in second, beating out ABC's 2.7 million viewers and 1.6/3. Fox (1.4 million, 0.9/2) finished fourth, and The CW (903,000, 0.5/1) trailed.
None of the broadcast nets made it to a 1.0 rating among adults 18-49. ABC led the way with a 0.9, followed by NBC at 0.7. CBS scored a 0.6, Fox a 0.4 and The CW a 0.3.
Wednesday hour by hour:
8 p.m.
CBS: "I Love Lucy Christmas Special" rerun (3.6 million, 2.1/4)

Fast National ratings for Monday, Dec. 16, 2013
The final performances on "The Voice" carried NBC to a ratings win Monday, but the show will likely be down from last week (the network's Baltimore affiliate carried the "Monday Night Football" game) and off significantly from last fall's final performance episode. It did, however, help "The Sing-Off" score better ratings than its last few outings.
Elsewhere Monday, "Mike & Molly" grew by a couple tenths of a point in adults 18-49 on CBS and scored its biggest overall audience since its season premiere. "Hostages" ticked up as well. Fox's "Almost Human" was down vs. last week.
NBC brought in 11.1 million viewers and a 6.8 rating/11 share in households, pending updates for the local NFL telecast. CBS (6.9 million, 4.5/7) came in second. ABC (4.4 million, 2.8/4) currently sits in third, also pending updates for a local "Monday Night Football" broadcast in Detroit. Fox (3.9 million, 2.5/4) finished fourth, and The CW (1.1 million,...

I really don't put much stock in the International Animated Film Society's 2013 Annie Awards, which is why I didn't rush to report on their results on Saturday. One year Disney and Pixar boycott the event, feeling there was an unfair advantage paid to larger contributing sponsors, DreamWorks being the primary example. So with such a nasty stench over the event what good does it do to pay it much mind? That said, I'll be brief in mentioning Wreck-It Ralph topped Saturday night's winners with five awards, including Best Animated Picture. The awards have something like a 75% streak when it comes to helping predict the eventual Oscar winner for Best Animated Feature and as the days have gone on, it's looking more and more like Ralph will be this year's winner (see my predictions here). Pixar's Brave, Laika's ParaNorman and DreamWorks' Rise of the Guardians each took home two awards in lesser,...

I love the art of animation, and it's amazing to see how far things have come and advanced over the years. The industry is changing in terms of technology, but what it all really comes down to is telling good stories. There's been a lot of great animated movies this year, and many of them are up for several awards at the 40th Annual Annie Awards.
Some of the movies nomainated include Brave, Frankenweenie, Hotel Transylvania, ParaNorman, Rise of the Guardians, The Pirates! Band of Misfits, and Wreck-It Ralph. Out of those films my favorite is a toss up between Wreck-It Ralph and ParaNorman, those were two pretty incredible films. I think ParaNorman has the edge though.
Some of the other animated properties nominated are Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1, Disney Tron: Uprising, Justice League: Doom, Robot Chicken ‘DC Comics Special', South Park ‘Raising the Bar’, and several others.

Fox announced today it will air the animated DreamWorks Dragons: Gift Of The Night Fury on December 17 at 8 Pm. The half-hour special is based on DreamWorks Animation’s How To Train Your Dragon pic, which is spawning a pair of sequels after the first film grossed $500 million worldwide. Jay Baruchel, America Ferrera and Gerard Butler are among the feature film’s voice cast back for the special. The news comes a day after Dwa boss Jeffery Katzenberg said he has wanted to get his content on Fox’s primetime now that Dwa and News Corp’s film arm 20th Century Fox are distribution partners beginning January 1. Katzenberg also touted yesterday Fox parent News Corp’s “enthusiasm” for his effort to create a branded channel for the studio, an initiative he is discussing with Fox international execs. Dwa previously had a TV distribution deal with Nickelodeon, owned by its soon-to-be-former distribution partner Viacom.
