This drama was like a warm hug from an old friend during a rainy day.
Everything about the drama feels very genuine. The plot is realistic, not rushed nor slow, and the dialogues are sincere. Every episode contains a heartwarming story and I found myself tearing up and crying long wet tears each time I watched an episode. It wasn't because the stories were sad, but because how heart touching they were.
The cast did a fantastic job by presenting us these lovable characters who each have layered personalities. Ji Changwook's acting is masterful yet again, and he brings out a great main character that you would always root for. His micro expressions throughout the drama had me hooked. I loved Soyoung's nurse as well. She was unproblematic, real, extremely kind, and badass as well!
Everyone else did a remarkable job in every aspect. I never felt time passing when I watched an episode.
A must see! Definitely recommended.

A young man played by Ji Chang-wook on getting out of prison is immediately pursued by the thugs of a gangster he owes money to. He ends up in a confrontation and has to do community service at a local hospice where a group of people called team genie try to meet the last wish of the occupants. The leader of team genie is played by Sung Dong-il and Choi Soo-young is the feisty nurse who grows to like the new help but will he stay after he has completed his hours ? It is a super cast with many great performance and will warm your heart as the cold and distant unloved orphan finds happiness in his life for the first time. Be prepared to have your heart strings tugged as you witness the final moments of people's lives and the sometime simple and sometime complicated dreams before they die. It has other side stories running through it and is great viewing over the sixteen episodes.

This drama is just a slice of life, well written and well acted too. Really enjoyed a show after a long time. It'll make you thing to do something good in life, to do something meaningful in life. Don't expect anything, just watch and flow in the storyline. The message is this story looks simple but not that simple.

This is a unique and heart-warming story! It deals with the ultimate truth of life. I don't know why it doesn't get the proper viewership but to me it is a gem. People want to stay in illusion it seems. The content is so different than other cheesy dramas. The story is unfolding so nicely.. I am proud of you JCW for choosing this role. The role you are playing is very much like yourself... An angel-like character. Always always love you genuinely. I hope people value this drama! But in India, it is so tough to watch this drama! I would request to give us a proper channel to watch all JCW dramas.

I'M OBSESSED WITH THIS DRAMA! It's an adaptation and they really did a wonderful job. Every episode, they come up with more meaningful things. Scenes, songs, and especially actors are amazing. Some of the scenes really got me motivated. I can't hold my tears at every episode but also i can't wait to watch the next episode. I especially love the scenes that they make the patient's last wishes become real. The topic of death can be really depressing but they convey it naturally and reminding that it's only normal in human nature. Congrats to the all the team!
Ps. Ji Chang Wook, again, you didn't dissapoint with your amazing acting, thank you!

Topics are too heavy and it's the typical Script that pursues an easy heartstring pull. ( death, sickness, over the top emotional) it is just an elaborate display of good people suffering so you feel for them.
This one is not for the cynical, I honestly find too unbelievably that the whole staff of an hospice would stop literally everything for days even weeks just to grant a wish to a dying patient. I mean, it's a beautiful thought, but naive nonetheless.
The other thing that bothers me is that they seem to know EXACTLY when everyone is going to die, what an amazing superpower... again unrealistic is to say too little about this drama.
I am aware that the show is well written and the acting is outstanding but I guess it's not the series for me. I want to be able to enjoy a drama and with this one I haven't been able too! What a shame.

I was one of those hesitant viewers in the beginning thinking this is going to be a pretty sad storyline. I know I'll watch it eventually because of JCW. Needless to say but, he is a great actor. Good thing I did! Unique storyline, no fear in divulging on realistic and different sorts of trauma and pain, and great acting from the whole cast. I also love how they made the female lead character to be strong and witty. That natural and easy connection between JCW and SY is quite charming. Each episode gives you that character and storyline development that you look for and keeps you wanting to watch more. Congratulations to IYWUM team. Great work!

While this drama tackles the topic of dying and death carefully and gently, the overall plot seemed all over the place. I would appreciate more focus on the stories of the patients. However, as the drama progressed, the focus shifted to the main cast and that is when it (in my opinion) went downhill.
There were multiple couples and side characters, whose storylines were introduced but felt incomplete at the end of the show. I personally did not feel much chemistry between the FL and ML.
The script was also weak and it did not allow actors to shine properly. The acting was great, the actors did not disappoint but neither showed anything out of the ordinary.
It is a nice watch but nothing revolutionary or with many plots and twists that would keep the viewer entertained. It is rather a typical slice-of-life drama without much plot going on overall.

Such a good drama. Of course I started to see the drama because of Ji Chang-Wook who, in my opinion, has the prettiest smile of all the Korean actors. I love all dramas he is in and would watch every one.
I was hesitant at the beginning because I do not like to cry in movies or dramas but, although I did cry in almost every episode at the beginning, I stayed with it. So happy I did. The drama develops into peoples' life and co-workers relationships. Some mystery, love and bad vs. Good people.
I like Sooyoungs' character in the drama, saying what she thinks and acting upon it as an adult. She fights for what she wants and I like it. Not dragging misunderstandings for too many episodes is a plus.
But my biggest pleasure was Sung Dong-Il. In this drama is is excellent. I saw him in many other dramas but I think he is the best in this one.
A must see drama.

Hospice melodrama If You Wish Upon Me has spent a lot of time showing us the end of life's journey - admittedly through rose-tinted glasses. Beginning and ending by the ocean, If You Wish Upon Me reminds us that it is not merely an end-of-life drama, it is a cycle-of-life one, too.
The show had more surprises in store - we realised that not only had we witnessed the start of Gyeo-rye's redemption story, we had joined Tae-sik midway through his own. Tae-sik is the beating heart of Team Genie, always eager to lend a hand or an ear. But behind his crinkly smile was a long story of woe, filled with tragedy and bad decisions.
All of this may be fitting, but the drama is not perfect and had problems. There was no character depth except Geo-Rye and Tae-Sik. The other side characters were merely a helping hand to the show, without exposing their backstory to the audience. The character of Yeon-Jeo felt like that she only mattered in so far as how she affected the male lead. The pacing was very slow and at times the story felt dragged at some moments. The contrived plot and sentimental send-offs made for a series that occasionally lacked the sincerity to convey the story it set out to tell.
My Rating : 6/10.

I really admire Ji- Chang Wook ,but this drama didn't touch me. The whole story had so good perspectives but everything went wrong. The writers decided to be focused more at the supportings' inside stories rather than main character. So , at every episode we saw a different story of a patient and that was boring and unnecessary for the whole series.
Moreover , even if Ji Chang Wook did perfect in his role , the romance between the lead couple seems to be in hurry and poor to me. I didn't manage to feel the emotion of the lead couple.
Worth to notice that the whole drama is unrealistic but tries to let something meaningful.

The roles of selfless warm hearted nurse and the Genie leader plus the transformed orphan with dark past makes the story great and meaningful. The leads and supporting casts are all great in their own roles.
But I wasn't satisfied with the limited scenes of the lead male and orphanage sister. Their relationship is a diversion of the hospital scenes which includes the unnecessary details of the patients' lives. Though their relationship became toxic, it seems it's more interesting if their past were shown a little more. I found CJW more charming playing tough yet supportive to her sister. The funny thing is they has been sleeping together but he never been attracted to her non biological pretty sister. I like their chemistry so there should have at least more development about them in the story.

Don't mind bad reviews this show is totally worth the watch.
Depicts one of the saddest moment of life, but also address major and profound impact terminal illness have among relatives of those people and the long term effects of this traumatic event and its ending. Nonetheless, the show create an important healing journey, of such events on its characters which talks profoundly to viwers thanks to amazing performances, production and cinematography.
The subplot of the biological father is one of the turn off for me, because the content of the drama it's already heavy and too emotional and his monstrous behavior it's too much to bear. This is my reason for a 9/10 rate.
As someone with experience with terminal ill patients I think this heavy subject must be treated with care and attention because may be easily become something the viewers end up giving up watching before the closure because of the emotional impact in the memories of such traumas.

Korean Drama " If You Wish Upon Me " is a slice of life melodrama.
The story is bittersweet, with lots of sad moments, as well as heartwarming ones. The romance, in addition, is subttle and doesn't overboarden the story. Rather, it gives the rest of the story breathing space and allows it to be the centre of the drama and to have a proper development.
However, some of the things that happened or kept happening to the male lead were too much. Thus, it got unbelievable after a while. Actually, the drama started getting tiring in the second half overall.
Finally, the performances were great and enjoyable by everyone in the cast.
So, overall, seven out of ten.

We chose to watch this K-drama simply because of the leading male actor who did a great performance in "Welcome to Samdal-ri" (2023). But once we started to watch this highly praised "If You Wish Upon Me" released in 2022, we immediately felt this one was completely different from the 2023 drama. It's so pretentious, childish, unrealistic, boring and so fake from the first scene. Then we saw a so unbelievably pretentious hospice hospital scene. Everybody smiles, happy, gentle, kind, warm...you name it. All the last stage patients looked happy, calm, peaceful like they've already in heaven. No pains, no nothing. The hospice hospital looked like a happy resort. All the workers, nurses, doctors, volunteers went out of their ways to fulfill the patients' last wish, making man-made snowflakes...everybody looked out the windows or opened the windows to enjoy the fake snowflakes. Then in order to fulfill one patient's last wish, the volunteer guy, the doctor and the nurse (who's also the leading female character) just wished they could send the dying patient back to his hometown before he died. We saw them drove an ambulance, but we didn't see the emergency lights flashing or alarming sound to alert all the other vehicles giving room to allow it passing through. Absolutely no redlights flashings or emergency horn blasting, nothing. Well, maybe the city did not approve their application, so all they could do was driving the ambulance like all the other vehicles on the freeway.
There were just too many unrealistic scenarios in this lousy serial. Some viewers pointed out it's too predictable, some viewers said it's a gradual weakened and weakened after every episode. But in my humble opinion, from the very first episode, maybe after 10 minutes, it already sucked and doomed to fail inevitably. Even we stopped watching this horrible serial after 30 some minute of the 1st episode, we still think that period of time was a total waste. That's how terrible it is. Don't waste your time, even you have nothing to do.
