I came across Adam Ellis randomly on Instagram some years ago and loved his comic strips. The way he fearlessly spoke his mind and proudly talked about his sexuality was great, and to see some of his story told through hilarious comic strips was truly awesome. Then, I saw something different from the brilliant comedy we had come to expect. It was a horror story and it was phenomenal.
The story was about him pulling a hangnail that eventually caused his skin to fall. It was odd but intriguing and I wanted more. Thankfully, Adam Ellis provided the world with a book of his art and stories called Bad Dreams in the Night. It’s an anthology of terror and deserves all the praise in the world.
Writer's note: Adam notes that that story about the hangnail is based on a comic by Natalya Lobanova that people should check out.

“As The World Turns” alum Billy Magnussen (ex-Casey Hughes), will topline the currently untitled Jonathan Glatzer Silicon Valley series for AMC and AMC+. Sarah Goldberg (“Barry”) was the first to be cast in the project.
According to Deadline, which first reported the news, the AMC Studios produced drama series is set inside the bubble of Silicon Valley, amid misguided corporate cultures, moony innovation labs and cutthroat private high schools. It is centered around a rift between a self-appointed “inventor of the future” tech CEO (Magnussen) and his self-serving “performance psychologist” (Goldberg), who is engulfed in a scandal sparked by the exploitation of personal data.
Along with Glatzer, the series will be executive produced by Gina Mingacci (“Killing Eve”) and is one of many high-profile Silicon Valley-set dramas put in development, but the first to receive a series order. A writer on such shows as “Succession” and “Better Call Saul,” among others,...

After Maya Hawke’s recent interview, it seems like Jennifer Aniston’s warning about Hollywood is becoming a dystopian reality day by day. The movie industry not only needs to match the rhythm of time but also needs to be ahead of it sometimes as the ultimate trendsetter.

As such, evolving at a breakneck speed is not only unsurprising but also expected. However, in its race to be one with the time, the old Hollywood glamor is slowly getting eroded. Or, that is what many actors have to say about the industry they have been a part of for so long.
Jennifer Aniston spoke about this years ago, but a recent interview with Maya Hawke is driving this point home that Hollywood’s current situation does not bode well for either actors or filmmakers of the future.

A new update is allowing some Apple TV owners to see shows and movies from Netflix in the Watchlist for easier navigation.
The user interface on your main streaming device can make a huge difference as to what content you watch, or don’t watch. Having your most recently-watched titles shown on a home screen can have a big influence on what you choose to turn on that viewing session, and in this regard Netflix has been at a disadvantage amongst owners of Apple TV devices. Formerly, Netflix titles did not appear in the Apple TV unified Watchlist, but it appears that is now changing.
Key Details: Some Apple TV owners are starting to see Netflix titles appear in the Watchlist and Continue Watching sections. Apple TV shows viewers the titles they watched last on other apps as well, such as Disney+ and Max. An official announcement from Netflix and Apple is likely coming soon.

The streaming service has an eye toward reducing content costs while simultaneously looking for new audiences.
Netflix may have surpassed 300 million subscribers in its latest quarterly earnings report, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to rest on its laurels. The world’s largest streamer has an increased willingness to pursue live programming and sports, opening it up to more streaming options, but a new report indicates Netflix is continuing to expand its content ambitions even further. According to Business Insider, Netflix is looking into potentially making investments in another rapidly growing entertainment segment: video podcasts.
Key Details: Netflix has increasingly warmed to the idea of having podcast talent host a talk show for it, according to agents. The streamer reportedly looked into a deal with Alex Cooper of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast. Edison Research found 89% of Gen-z podcast listeners streamed a podcast with video in 2024. Little films are a very big deal at this year’s Academy Awards. Topics as heavy as Ptsd, ethnic cleansing and the immigration system, and as light as music, kissing and children with a passion to perform are all vying for the short film Oscars. Here’s a look at the nominees in the documentary shorts, animated shorts and live-action shorts categories.
Documentary Shorts
The proliferation of platforms distributing short subject documentaries in recent years has led to an abundance of high-quality films that pack a punch. This year’s five nominated short nonfiction docs stand out for their impactful and exquisite storytelling.
It’s anyone’s guess as to what film will take home The Little Gold Man, but if previous award season wins mean anything, Bill Morrison’s “Incident” could be a frontrunner. Told using police surveillance footage, Morrison offers a raw look at the Chicago police shooting of a Black man.

The next season of Ahsoka is already in the works, and a fresh creative hand will be shaping the look of the show. A new cinematographer has officially joined the team, and it’s someone with experience in visually striking projects.
We’re talking about Stephan Pehrsson, who has been confirmed as the cinematographer for Ahsoka Season 2. If the name doesn’t ring a bell, his past work definitely will. He’s been behind the camera for shows like Utopia, Wednesday, Doctor Who, and Black Mirror. These series all have unique and memorable visuals, which hint at an exciting new direction for Ahsoka.
This is a big move for the Star Wars universe. The first season of Ahsoka had a distinct look, blending cinematic action with the moody, mystical tones of the galaxy far, far away. With Pehrsson now in charge of cinematography, we might see something different in how the story is visually told.

There's a certain kind of magic to seeing real life siblings sharing the screen. Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal in Donnie Darko. Chris and Luke Hemsworth in Thor: Ragnarok. Macaulay and Kieran Culkin in Home Alone. And soon to be joining that niche but ever eye-catching canon are Rooney and Kate Mara. Per Deadline's reporting, the sisters — stars of Carol and Black Mirror respectively — are set to lead Bucking Fastard, the latest movie from mellifluous German auteur Werner Herzog.
Despite their prolific screen careers, Emmy nominee Kate and two-time Oscar nomineee Rooney have never actually shared the screen with one another before. As such, Bucking Fastard — which Herzog is set to direct from a self-penned script — will be a first for the starring siblings, who are set to play twins here. Netflix UK has assembled twelve top-tier British celebrities, who have subjected themselves as prey for a Bear hunt.
While it may not be a grizzly bear sniffing around for them, it may be worse. Edward Michael “Bear” Grylls, a British adventurer, TV personality and former British Special Forces soldier, will be on the hunt for the celebrity talent attached to the reality competition series.
Holly Willoughby hosts the Netflix show set in the Costa Rican jungle, where 12 celebrities, including Spice Girls alum Mel B and tennis legend Boris Becker, become prey for the legendary survival expert.
Each of the stars must prove how strong their sense of survival truly is as they navigate a brutal game of cat and mouse and are hunted down by Bear himself. Failure to work together and complete a challenge means an hour in the Bear Pit being hunted by Grylls. If caught, the celebrity will be eliminated.

Uzo Aduba stars as an eccentric investigator navigating secrets, scandals, and 157 suspects.
I love comedy murder mystery TV shows - in fact, I made a list of my favorites you can check out here. Now, Netflix is throwing another hat into the ring by bringing a screwball murder mystery with a presidential twist to its new limited series “The Residence,” premiering Thursday, March 20. From Shonda Rhimes’ production company, the show stars Uzo Aduba as Cordelia Cupp, a sharp-witted (if eccentric) detective navigating a murder investigation inside the White House. Based on Kate Andersen Brower’s book, the series pulls back the curtain on the inner workings of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, mixing scandal, secrets, and high-stakes intrigue involving 157 suspects and one dead body. With an all-star cast and a juicy whodunnit premise, this one will be a binge-worthy ride. Here’s everything you need to know about “The Residence.”

For every Hollywood icon, there exists a story hidden deep underneath the layers of fame and wealth. Salma Hayek was one such star who had never foregone the scrutiny that came with celebrity. The A-list actress continues to hold a trance over her fans today as much as she did when Desperado hit the theaters.

Besides being constantly in demand, Hayek also commands a magnitude of respect and awe in her field. The actress is neither an indie darling nor a box office blockbuster queen and yet has the potential to do equally well in both while also being a major crowd-puller. However, for a star of such major credits, she had a very humble, if not shady, beginning.

There are few horror movie villains more memorable than the unhinged, chaotic, and oddly charming Stu Macher from Scream. Matthew Lillard’s portrayal of the knife-wielding goofball-turned-killer made him a fan favorite, even though he met a very definitive end in the 1996 classic.
With Scream 7 on the horizon, rumors are swirling that Lillard might be making a return, despite the fact that Stu was, you know, very dead. But let’s be real, death has never been a dealbreaker in horror movies, especially in the Scream universe, where meta-madness reigns supreme.

So, could Stu actually return? And if he does, how could it possibly make sense? Well, it would definitely be wild, but fans found four ways that a Stu comeback could actually work, even if they’re completely ridiculous. Buckle up, Scream fans, because we’re diving into some seriously bonkers territory.

This brash debut with Jack Quaid and Sophie Thatcher is slickly made but it’s not as clever or original as it thinks it is
Imagine, if you will, a skewed sci-fi reality that envisions a Black Mirror episode but for an entire movie? Can you even begin to grasp what that would look like? Maybe you can if in the last few years you’ve seen Foe or Fingernails or Don’t Worry Darling or Swan Song or Love Me or The Pod Generation or The Substance or Possessor or any one of the many attempts to recall the magic of at least some of the sci-fi anthology’s earlier episodes. It’s not as if the Charlie Brooker-created series was the first to spin “what if?” nightmares from the dangers of tech but its stickiness has had a noticeable effect on younger creators eager to Say Something about the times we live in.

Don’t expect a retreat of killer AI horror movies like M3GAN or Subservience with writer/director Drew Hancock’s Companion. Making his directorial feature debut, the filmmaker flips the script on the killer robot subgenre by centering Sophie Thatcher‘s Iris as the protagonist.
Thatcher stars opposite Jack Quaid as Iris’s affable boyfriend, Josh, who’s brought her along on a weekend cabin getaway to meet his friends for the first time. As if the major relationship milestone didn’t add enough pressure for Iris, an unexpected death sets off a series of increasingly bizarre, violent events.

We talk about Star Trek-inspired properties a lot over on our site. We mention The Orville, Galaxy Quest, and other Star Trek-themed, or inspired shows. Yet, one that we don't talk about a lot is the horror-anthology series, Black Mirror.
A modern-day Twilight Zone, Black Mirror does all the same things that the iconic Twilight Zone used to do, just with more emphasis on technology than the 1960s horror series used to. The cultural examinations, the lessons, and the concepts are pretty universal across both shows and Black Mirror mostly does an excellent job of filling in where Twilight Zone left off.
Despite Black Mirror not being anywhere close to a Star Trek clone on its own, season four brought forth an episode that caught many Star Trek fans by surprise. The episode was called USS Callister, and it featured Jesse Plemons as the standard, James Kirk-stand in character.

The cultural examinations, the lessons, and the concepts are pretty universal across both shows and Black Mirror mostly does an excellent job of filling in where Twilight Zone left off.

Ever since Season 4 of Stranger Things was dropped in two parts, seven episodes on May 27, 2022 followed by the last two episodes on July 1, Netflix has been employing the split-season release strategy for some of its biggest shows.
Virgin River‘s fifth season released 10 episodes in September 2023, followed by a two-episode season finale/holiday special almost two months later. The same year, The Witcher‘s third season also came in two batches, 8 episodes and 3 episodes, almost a month apart, with The Crown’s final season divided into four-episode and six-episode installments, also four weeks apart.
In 2024, Netflix started splitting seasons in half, with the latest seasons of Bridgerton, Emily In Paris and Outer Banks all scheduled that way.
There have been different explanations for Netflix’s pivot away from their signature binge drop releases. The streamer at the time justified the Stranger Things two-part Season 4 with the fact that the VFX...

The book series about growing up in the American West was first turned into an enduringly popular TV show in the 1970s.
Netflix recently released an incredibly brutal look at life in the American West of the 19th century in “American Primeval.” The streamer is returning to a similar setting and timeframe, with its new series, though the content will almost certainly be less violent and adult in nature. Netflix announced on Wednesday that it was rebooting “Little House on the Prairie,” the 1974 TV show based on the book series of the same name by Laura Ingalls Wilder. We don’t know much about it yet, but we’ll lay out all the details we do have below!
Everything we know so far about “Little House on the Prairie” reboot
When will the ‘Little House on the Prairie’ reboot be released?
Will the new ‘Little House’ series be on linear TV?...

On Wednesday, Netflix announced a list of shows that would be returning with new episodes this year. There were some notable ommissions.
The list of popular TV shows on Netflix is incredibly long. The streamer’s crews are at work around the clock on delivering new episodes of titles like “Stranger Things” and “Wednesday,” but even Netflix can’t turn out new seasons of every show fans want to see yearly. The streamer announced a list of new shows coming to its platform this season on Wednesday at its Next on Netflix presentation, and while there are some very popular titles on it, there are also some glaring omissions.
Key Details: “Squid Games,” “Stranger Things,” and “Wednesday” will all release new seasons on Netflix this year. “Beef,” “Bridgerton,” “Virgin River,” and other popular Netflix shows won’t return until at least 2026. Some of the seasons not scheduled to come back...

We expect to see the a lot of announcements, clips, images, and other goodies from the Netflix streaming service today, and the action begins with the unveiling of the streamer’s 2025 TV slate – which is previewed in the fun “You’re Not Ready” trailer embedded above. In this trailer, a Netflix subscriber finds herself taking a journey through some of the many TV shows coming to the streamer this year, including Squid Game season 3, Wednesday season 2, the Cobra Kai finale, The Witcher season 4, and Stranger Things season 5. Don’t expect to see much in the way of show footage in the trailer; this is just about the subscriber’s adventure. Netflix had the actress who stars in the ad do a lot of stuff for this 3 minute promo, but unfortunately they didn’t reveal her name, so I can’t credit her for her work.

On Thursday, Netflix revealed its full 2025 TV slate. The lineup includes the final seasons of two of its biggest shows, Stranger Things and Squid Game, and a second season of its other biggest show, Wednesday. It also includes promising-sounding limited series like Black Rabbit and The Four Seasons, returns of longtime Netflix favorites like Black Mirror and Chef’s Table, an overwhelming number of sports documentaries, and dozens more shows.
The biggest piece of news in the announcement is the startlingly soon release date for Squid Game Season 3. The second and third seasons shot back-to-back, and so the final season is slated for June 27, just six months after the release of Season 2. Netflix also revealed a handful of previously unannounced projects, including a 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina documentary that counts Spike Lee as a director, and a Long Island serial killer docuseries from director Liz Garbus.

We finally have a clue about “Wednesday” Season 2, and it is all thanks to a promotional clip from Netflix. The streaming giant slipped in a teaser for the new installment into a reel that was shown during its Next on Netflix event for 2025.
The promo reel in question serves as a celebration of nearly every major Netflix original. The video opens on a young woman who is bored during a work meeting and tries to covertly watch “Stranger Things” on Netflix. The signature “Tudum” of the app does not just pique the interest of all of her co-workers; it literally sucks her into the world of Netflix originals.
After crawling over the heads of several “Squid Game” guards, our Netflix-loving hero finds herself in an elevator. Seconds after she enters it, the lights flicker and the mirror behind her breaks, morphing into the signature smiley face of “Black Mirror,” which...

Netflix has quite a large slate of new and returning series coming in 2025. The slate was previewed Wednesday at the streamer’s annual Next on Netflix event in Los Angeles, which was also streamed across the globe.
Some of the most anticipated projects include Stranger Things 5 and Wednesday Season 2, neither of which have premiere dates just yet. So far, Netflix has revealed a huge slate for February, as well as a smattering of series that are expected through August, but a large portion of the series the streamer says we’ll see this year haven’t been confirmed for a specific date yet.
Of the dates that were revealed, perhaps the biggest surprise is that the third and final season of Squid Game is coming sooner than audiences might have anticipated, premiering on June 27. June will also bring another season of Ginny & Georgia.
