Riteish Deshmukh and Mukesh Ambani’s Jio Studios are collaborating on Raja Shivaji, a historical action movie about the founder of the Maratha empire.

Filmed in both Marathi and Hindi, the film will follow the journey of young Shivaji, who founded the empire in the 17th century.

Raja Shivaji will be produced by Jyoti Deshpande and actress Genelia Deshmukh, the wife of Riteish Deshmukh, with music composed by brothers and music duo Ajay–Atul.

Days after Sandeep Singh’s “The Pride of Bharat – Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj” was announced, billionaire Mukesh Ambani’s Jio Studios and actors Riteish and Genelia Deshmukh’s Mumbai Film Company have unveiled their collaboration on “Raja Shivaji.” Both films were revealed on the occasion of the 394th birth anniversary of Shivaji, Feb. 19. Shivaji (1630-1680) founded the Maratha empire when most of India was under Mughal rule, winning his territories using a mixture of military moves and strategic nous.

“Raja Shivaji,” a bilingual in the Marathi and Hindi languages, will trace the journey of the young Shivaji, who fought against the powers that be and was crowned as Chhatrapati (monarch). Bollywood producer Sajid Nadiadwala is investing INR10 billion ($121 million) in U.K.-based projects featuring industry A-listers.

Coming up is “Housefull 5,” the latest instalment in the blockbuster comedy franchise starring Akshay Kumar (“Omg 2”) and Riteish Deshmukh (“Ved”), directed by Tarun Mansukhani (“Dostana”). Like the previous four films, “Housefull 5” will be filmed in the U.K. The film is budgeted at $48 million and will be produced under the producer’s Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment banner. The previous four films released in 2010, 2012, 2016 and 2019 respectively and together grossed $118 million.

Mumbai, May 20 (Ians) The first song of the Prabhas and Kriti Sanon-starrer Adipurush — ‘Jai Shri Ram’ — was released on Sunday by the award-winning music composer duo Ajay and Atul Gogavale, better known as Ajay-Atul, with a live orchestra.

At the launch, the duo mentioned how a magical power was with them while they composed this anthemic number. The launch of the song with a 30-member chorus along with Ajay-Atul was indeed an uplifting experience.

The duo, incidentally, have composed the music or written songs for an impressive array of films and TV serials in Hindi and Marathi, notably ‘Tumbbad’, ‘Zero’, ‘Super 30’, ‘Panipat’, ‘Tanhaji’ (helmed by ‘Adipurush’ director Om Raut) and most recently, Riteish Deshmukh’s ‘Ved’.

Speaking at length about the journey of the song, Ajay said: “The inspiration of this song is the name of the song itself. This was the first song we composed for the film.

Ahead of its release on Friday, the theatrical film ‘Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan’, which stars Bollywood superstar Salman Khan in the lead, had its premiere at a five star property in Mumbai’s Vile Parle area.

The event was attended by the likes of playback singer Palak Muchhal, who was once offered a role in the film by Salman but she couldn’t take it up due to familial resistance.

The mother-daughter duo of Shweta and Palak Tiwari also attended the premiere. Palak stars in the film among an ensemble cast of Tej Sapru, Bhumika Chawla, the film’s female lead – Pooja Hegde, Siddharth Nigam, Shehnaaz Kaur Gill, Raghav Juyal and Jassie Gill, all of whom attended the premiere along with Bhaijaan – Salman Khan.

The actor will be release a new version of the song ‘Ved Tujha’, shot with Satya (Riteish Deshmukh) and Shravani (Genelia Deshmukh), along with some new scenes.

This is for the first time that a new song will be introduced in a Marathi movie after its release. From January 20, the audience will be able to enjoy this new song while watching ‘Ved’ in theatres. The tracks of the film have been composed and penned by music director duo Ajay-Atul.

As for the response to the film, ‘Ved’, produced by Mumbai Film Company, is inching towards Rs 50 crore in the box office.
