Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ Long After Dark will get the deluxe treatment this fall with a new reissue that pairs the original 1982 album with an additional disc of unreleased music from the era.

Long After Dark Deluxe Edition, out October 18 via Geffen/UMe, boasts a dozen “newly discovered” tracks, including seven unreleased tracks, some of which were recorded for the album but left off the LP.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ 1982 album, Long After Dark, is receiving a deluxe reissue set for release on October 18th via Geffen/UMe.

The remastered collection features 12 bonus tracks, including seven previously unreleased songs. “There was some music recorded for Long After Dark that didn’t get on the record, that I thought would’ve made it a better album,” the late Petty is quoted as saying in a press release. “I left off… four things that I liked quite a bit. And probably a few more written that never even got in the door.”

Notable inclusions in the expanded collection are Petty’s version of “Never Be You” (which became a No. 1 country hit for Rosanne Cash), the pop-leaning “Don’t Make Me Walk the Line,” and an uptempo version of “Ways to Be Wicked.” The latter became a single for the country rock band Lone Justice.

Deadline reports that Netflix has announced the casting of 28 actors for the upcoming whodunnit mystery series Jo Nesbø’s Detective Hole. The mystery’s plot is led by “famed anti-hero detective Harry Hole. Underneath the surface, this series is a nuanced character drama about two police officers — and supposed colleagues — operating on opposite sides of the law. Throughout the first season, Harry goes head-to-head with his long-time adversary and corrupt detective, Tom Waaler. Harry is a brilliant but tormented homicide detective who struggles with his demons. As the two navigate the blurred ethical lines of the criminal justice system, Harry must do all he can to catch a serial killer and bring Waaler to justice before it is too late.”

Late Motörhead guitarist Fast Eddie Clarke is the subject of a forthcoming 320-page biography and a 4-cd box set, both arriving September 6th via BMG.

Make My Day: The Rock ‘n’ Roll Story of Fast Eddie Clarke was penned by rock journalist Kris Needs with Clarke’s widow Mariko Fujiwara. The book follows Clarke’s life and career from his formative years in the burgeoning UK rock scene, through his legendary run with Motörhead from 1976 to 1982 and his subsequent hard rock/Aor band Fastway and beyond.

“Mariko and Eddie’s closest friends provide detailed insights into Eddie’s life, including growing up in Twickenham, topping charts with Motörhead, overcoming personal problems, finding happiness with Mariko and becoming the smitten co-owner of Cookie the Maltese-Shihtzu cross,” reads the book’s press release.

In the Swedish series, Warsama brings Billy's mother, Leila, to life. After Billy was shot by an unknown assailant, causing him to become brain-dead, Leila expressed concerns over her son's fate as well as her family's safety amid the raging gang war in the small town.

Dogge and Billy first get their hands on drugs when Mehdi appoints them to sell the stuff. Dogge couldn’t resist the allure of the magic pouches of drugs he was selling. We see Dogge regularly take drugs from the same waist bag he sells the stuff from. He can’t even sleep without drugs. When he gets out of juvenile detention and finds cocaine on the table, he instantly snorts it up.

Burdened with the responsibility of raising four kids all by herself, Leila comes a long way after losing her eldest son, Billy. Being the only major female character in Netflix’s Deliver Me, Leila’s primal instinct is to make sure her kids are safe. A survivor above everything else, Leila only makes decisions based on the wellbeing of her kids. She doesn’t mollycoddle her husband either, despite having that option.

The Swedish Netflix series Deliver Me dives deep into the world of gang wars and the devastating impact they have on people’s lives. The story centers around two teenage boys, Bilal and Douglas, and how their lives take a dark turn after they get involved with Mehdi’s gang, ultimately leading to both of their deaths. We see that, even though Bilal wanted to leave the gang after witnessing its gruesome dark side, he faced terrible consequences and was killed. But by who? Will justice be served? In the last episode, we’ll see the struggles their families and friends go through to seek justice. You might not like the climax of the series, but truth be told, I feel the accused got what he deserved. Feel free to disagree! The 2024 Netflix series, Deliver Me, really brings back memories of When They See Us, doesn’t it? Both shows dive deep into the devastating consequences of being wrongly accused. In Deliver Me, we follow the intense journey of two teenage boys, Douglas and Bilal. These boys find themselves caught up in a gang led by Mehdi Bah. We’ve seen this heartbreaking story play out before in movies and shows. Teenagers get tangled up in dangerous situations, often because of family pressures or to protect loved ones. Once they’re in, it’s nearly impossible to get out. Now tragedy strikes when Bilal gets killed. Now, the burning question on everyone’s mind is: Who killed Bilal? Was it Mehdi, the gang leader, or could it have been someone else? The mystery is on, and Officer Farid is here to find out the truth, as are we.

Whenever there’s an incident of a kid committing a heinous crime, people often try to point the finger at someone else. It’s not necessary that an adult will have to bear responsibility for a crime committed by their offspring. The kids in Anna Zackrisson’s Deliver Me are lost in the dark, even though they have good people around them. The story doesn’t shy away from being brave and showing the hard truths that exist in society, and a few wonderful performances only add a cherry on top.

Another day, another Netflix content slate in Europe.

Following content showcases in Germany and London last week, the streamer has unveiled its slate in the Nordics. Among the key TV announcements are a Norwegian series based on author Joe Nesbø’s police detective Harry Hole and Netflix’s first Nordic period drama.

A number of films were also unveiled at a Next on Netflix event today in Stockholm, Sweden, and you can read about them here.

On the TV front, Harry Hole (working title) comes from Exit and So Long, Marianne creator Oystein Karlsen, and is based on Nesbø’s novel The Devil’s Star, about the titular detective. Working Title is producing ahead of a 2026 debut and Nesbø is writing the script.

With its midnight screenings and strands for animation, documentary, and narrative, SXSW is an undeniable highlight of the festival circuit for short film fans. The programmers work hard to make sure the line-up adheres to the festival’s reputation and once again they haven’t let us down. Although we won’t be attending the event in person this year, we’ve still trawled the screenings for the standout shorts to keep an eye on if you’re on the ground in Austin, Texas. Promising a “glimpse into the future of film” the line-up is full of familiar names (Oscar-nominated Ice Merchants and The Flying Sailor) and lots of surprises – from zombies to pufflings and grandmas to clones, there’s a little something for everyone.
