A New Year is here, and cancelations have been quiet so far in 2025, but a few shows have been announced as being in the final stages. This is our big list of cancelations and shows confirmed to be ending that we’ll keep updated throughout the rest of the year.
This year, we’re shaking up our cancelation article as we will include the list of series ending with their next season. Many outlets seem to be unable to distinguish between a cancelation and a show being naturally or purposely brought to a close, but we think there’s a significant difference. As a result, we’ll be splitting up this page into two halves: cancelations and shows ending.
Over 20 series were confirmed or announced to be canceled in 2024. As a reminder, those included:

Netflix has developed a reputation for canceling shows prematurely, and 2024 only bolstered this idea. Netflix canceled the most shows of any major network or streaming platform last year, including some surprise cancelations that left fans disappointed. Netflix seems to know fairly quickly whether a show will be a hit or not, so it cancels shows after only a few weeks if they don't achieve their targets. Some Netflix shows wrapped things up on their own terms in 2024, like Arcane, but this is a rare luxury.
Many of the shows Netflix canceled in 2024 only had a single season to prove their worth. Some of the shocking cancelations include Dead Boy Detectives, The Brothers Sun and Kaos. All of these shows received positive reviews and could have developed as they continued, but Netflix's ruthless approach struck them down. One major complaint from fans during the streaming era is that new shows aren't...

Netflix led the pack in cancellations for 2024, ending more shows than any other network or streaming platform. Altogether, Netflix bid farewell to 22 series in 2024, a mix of outright cancellations and planned conclusions, reaffirming its reputation for high turnover in original programming after the outcry over the seemingly abrupt axing of beloved series like Kaos.
According to a new study by Watch In America, the streaming giant cancelled 16 English-language shows outright this year, with an additional six being granted final seasons to conclude their stories. Here's a full list of Netflix shows cancelled in 2024:

Now that 2024 has come to a close, it’s official, Netflix once again handed out the most cancellations in the calendar year – though at this point, I don’t think anyone will find this surprising. While the streaming platform has gotten better as the years have gone by in giving shows final seasons and the chances to establish themselves with audiences, the streaming platform continues to have some of the biggest cancellation rates in the business and 2024 was no different.
In total, Netflix canceled 16 shows in 2024 while also handing six additional shows their walking papers with final season orders which are about as close to cancellations as you can get the only difference being that those lucky six shows will get to actually wrap up their runs with proper sendoffs. So when you combine the two groups, Netflix decided to end a whopping 22 shows in 2024 be it by canceling them directly or ordering final seasons.

Netflix released its semi-annual data dump on Thursday, unveiling viewership for the streamer’s biggest hits — and not so big releases — from January through June of 2024.
While the most-watched seasons of TV during the six-month interval included “Fool Me Once,” “Bridgerton” Season 3, “Baby Reindeer” and “The Gentlemen,” a group of winners have arisen from the data dump, including children’s TV as a whole — including “Peppa Pig” — “Young Sheldon” and buzzy crime docs like “Ashley Madison: Sex, Lies & Scandal.”
As the streamer continues to bolster its live event programming, the success of “The Roast of Tom Brady” followed in the footsteps of “Chris Rock: Selective Outrage” as it found an eager audience, whereas the first-ever livestream of the SAG-AFTRA Awards earlier this year didn’t do much for Netflix, viewership-wise.
For the full breakdown of the biggest TV-centric revelations from Netflix’s data dump for the first half of 2024, see below.

Disney+ was the first paid streaming service to roll out playlists that automatically started the next episode of a given show this year.
On-demand streaming can be a huge benefit for parents who are otherwise at a loss for how to keep their kids entertained. But there can still be pitfalls with on-demand services, especially if arguments erupt over what to watch next or if a given show runs out of episodes. Netflix is trying to help solve that problem, following the lead of Disney+ by revealing that it will make new playlists of popular kids shows that automatically play a new episode available to customers in the next week or so.
Key Details: Netflix’s new kids show playlists are likely to be only available to subscribers. Playlists will be available globally from Sept. 24 onward. The new playlists will feature themes like animal-related shows, titles for bedtime and more.

y Reindeer” continues its surprise meteoric ascent. The limited series, which reached 2.6 million views in its debut weekend — impressive, given the show’s minimal marketing push — rose to 13.3 million views in its second week on the chart, then shot up by another 65%, landing at 22 million views for the April 22-28 viewing window.
That made it the most-watched Netflix title of the week, followed by “Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver,” which was the top movie with 18.8 million views. “Anyone but You” was the No. 2 movie of the week with 10.6 million views in its first six days of availability, following a successful run at the box office earlier this year.

Killing Eve season 1 ranks third on Netflix's Top 10 Most Popular Shows for the week of April 15-21. The show was recently added to the streamer's library, and its success is a reminder of star Sandra Oh's continued appeal. Since exiting Grey's Anatomy, Oh has picked a slew of exciting projects and seems poised to continue doing so.
Killing Eve, featuring former Grey's Anatomy star Sandra Oh, finds new success on Netflix. Oh was part of the original Grey's Anatomy cast, appearing as Cristina Yang in seasons 1-10. Since leaving the show, Oh has starred in a number of high-profile projects, with Killing Eve one of her most notable. Oh received Emmy nominations for her work in all four seasons of Killing Eve, a feat made more impressive by the five nominations she received for Grey's Anatomy a decade earlier.

Netflix Top 10: ‘Baby Reindeer’ Leads TV Chart, ‘Rebel Moon — Part Two’ Debuts as Most-Watched Title
watched English-language TV series, and the 11th-most watched series overall, it was the No. 1 TV series on the service from April 15-21, reaching 13.3 million views — impressive, especially for a title that premiered with a smaller scale marketing campaign than titles with similar viewership.
The most-watched title of the week overall was “Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver,” the follow-up to Zack Snyder’s 2023 film “Rebel Moon — Part One: A Child of Fire.” The movie hit 21.4 million views in its first three days of availability, putting it slightly behind “Part One,” which reached 23.9 million views in the same amount of time. The release of “Part Two” also gave a boost to “Part One,” which returned as the No. 5 English-language film with 5.5 million views. Also notable on the film chart was “Woody Woodpecker Goes to Camp” and “What Jennifer Did,” which hit 18.8 million and 16.3 million views in their first full weeks of availability.

Despite its dark themes, Baby Reindeer incorporates comedy and has been hailed as original and thought-provoking. The limited series achieved a 100% Rotten Tomatoes score and has become a global hit on Netflix. Baby Reindeer's success is impressive as it features no big-name stars and had little marketing before its release.
Netflix's new thriller with a 100% Rotten Tomatoes score, Baby Reindeer, is now a global hit. Created by and starring Richard Gadd, adapted from his one-man stage show of the same name which is based on a true story, the limited series follows the writer and performer's twisted relationship with his female stalker and the profound effect it has on him as he confronts a deeply buried dark trauma. Other than Richard Gadd in the lead role as Donny Dunn, the Baby Reindeer cast also includes Jessica Gunning and Nava Mau.

After a slow start of 2.3 million views in its opening weekend on Netflix, viewership of Andrew Scott’s “Ripley” barely increased in its first full week of availability. The limited series reached 2.5 million views between April 8 and April 14, making it the streamer’s No. 6 English-language TV title of the week — low for a project of its caliber, given the talent and IP attached.
Meanwhile, “Sex and the City” fell of the chart after debuting at No. 6 when it was added to Netflix the week before via a licensing deal. Though it may or may not be far behind this week’s No. 10 series, it seems that the HBO classic didn’t reach Gen Z in the way Netflix had hoped — or maybe they’re just tuning in on Max, where the series was already available.

“Sex and the City” made its debut on the Netflix Top 10 charts, with the hit HBO series coming in at No. 6 for the week of April 1-7.
All six seasons of “Sex and the City” are available on Netflix, with the show pulling in 2.5 million views on the English language TV charts since it became available on April 1. “Is It Cake?” Season 3 also pulled in 2.5 million views for the week.
Elsewhere on the chart, the limited series “Ripley” starring Andrew Scott had a muted debut at No. 8 with 2.3 million views. In fairness, though, “Ripley” only became available to stream on April 1.
“3 Body Problem” held onto the No. 1 spot for the second week in a row, though it saw significant fall off in viewership from last week. This week, the show pulled in 8.3 million views, down approximately 47% from the week prior. “Testament: The Story of Moses” remained at No. 2 for...

3 Body Problem ranks as the number 1 most popular show on Netflix globally for the week of March 25 – 31. With 15.6 million total views, the show beats Testament: The Story of Moses and The Gentlemen. The show's source material, positive reviews, and curiosity due to David Benioff and D.B. Weiss' previous work on Game of Thrones have likely all contributed to its success.
3 Body Problem, the new sci-fi series from Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, is once again topping Netflix charts for the second week. Based on The Three-Body Problem by author Liu Cixin, the series marks Benioff and Weiss' first major undertaking since Game of Thrones ended in 2019.
