BBC Studios has announced the titles coming to BritBox in December 2024, which include everything from new BritBox Originals to classic British fare. BritBox is a digital video subscription service offering the largest collection of British TV in the U.S. and Canada.

The December lineup includes the Sophie Turner-led Joan, the highly anticipated Shetland Season 9, and the crime drama Protection. Eva Feiler has signed with Impression Entertainment for management, Variety has learned exclusively. Feiler continues to be repped by Curtis Brown Group in the UK.

Feiler most recently starred in the Hulu limited series “We Were the Lucky Ones” in the role of Bella Tatar. The series was based on the book of the same name by Georgia Hunter. The official logline states that it is “inspired by the incredible true story of one Jewish family separated at the start of World War II, determined to survive and reunite.”

The show was very well received by critics upon its release, holding a 93% critical approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Beyond Paradise season 3 has been announced and news about the cast, story, and more has been slowly rolling out since. The first of two spinoffs of the BBC One comedy crime series Death in Paradise, the other being Return to Paradise, Beyond Paradise premiered in February 2023, with season 2 coming a year later, in April 2024. Like its parent show, Beyond Paradise is a highly underrated British detective TV show with a similar tone and style to Death in Paradise and even has a returning face.

Despite not being filmed in the same tropical locale as Death in Paradise, Beyond Paradise has Detective Inspector Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall) back on the case. Di Goodman starred in Death in Paradise from season 3 to season 6, before leaving to go back to London to live with his girlfriend Martha Lloyd (Sally Bretton). Humphrey joins the local coastal police force near Devon, bringing a new approach to the stagnated department.

Filming has begun for season three of Beyond Paradise, which the BBC renewed in April. The drama series is released by the Britbox streaming service for US viewers.

The thirteenth series of Robert Thorogood’s long-running crime drama Death In Paradise recently concluded, with Ralf Little leaving the show. His replacement has not yet been announced, but what is being dubbed ‘The Paraverse’ is expanding once again.

The first spin-off, Beyond Paradise, is in the midst of its second series. Developed by Thorogood and Hustle creator Tony Jordan, Kris Marshall reprises the role of Humphrey Goodman, who solves crimes in the fictional town of Shipton Abbott, near Devon.

Sony Pictures Networks India (Spni) has acquired TV and digital rights to all New Zealand-based men’s and women’s cricket matches into India and associated territories for the next seven years. The deal is valid from May 1, 2024 through April 30, 2031, encompassing India’s tours of New Zealand in the 2026-27 and 2030-31 summers, as well as all other bilateral Tests, ODIs, and T20Is played in New Zealand during the period. All matches will be broadcast across Spni’s sports channels and streamed on SonyLIV. Spni’s digital rights in India will be co-exclusive with Prime Video for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons. BBC Studios has bought out ITV’s 50% interest in streamer BritBox International in a deal worth £255m.

The landmark move gives BBC Studios sole ownership of the previously joint venture platform, which has a subscriber base of around 3.8m across the various territories it operates.

After the transaction has completed it will provide net proceeds including loan repayments and accrued dividends of around £235m after tax to ITV.

BBC Studios will move BritBox International into its global media and streaming division to sit alongside other direct-to-consumer propositions including factual streamer BBC Select. The move will see current global chief executive Reemah Sakaan exiting the company.

Rogers Communications has added hundreds of hours of British television series with the launch of Britbox on its connected TV systems in Canada.

Starting this month, Rogers customers with Ignite TV set-top boxes or Ignite Streaming devices, the latter of which is a white-label version of Comcast’s Flex smart TV box.

“This collaboration brings a rich tapestry of British storytelling – from classic British mysteries and contemporary dramas to live events and more – to an ever-growing app library, making it easier than ever for Rogers customers to access the ultimate entertainment experience,” a spokesperson for Rogers said in a statement.

Britbox operates as a streaming-focused joint venture comprised of the BBC and ITV, with original programs from both broadcasters distributed through the service. The service costs CA $10 per month (around U.S. $7.40 per month) or CA $100 per year (around U.

Back in 2015, during a BBC Breakfast interview about series seven of Not Going Out, presenter Bill Turnbull asked Lee Mack: “Did you ever imagine when you first got that pilot that you’d get seven series?”
