Ricky Gervais, Dave Chappelle, Jim Gaffigan, Nikki Glaser, and Trevor Noah were the five comedians nominated for the Grammy for Best Comedy Album on Friday morning.
Gervais, Chappelle and Noah scored for their respective specials Armageddon, The Dreamer, and Where Was I, which were all released on Netflix, with Glaser recognized for HBO’s Someday You’ll Die.
Remarkably, the nomination was the first for both Gervais and Glaser, whose career reached new heights on the heels of her performance in Netflix’s Tom Brady roast. While Gaffigan recently took to Prime Video with the special Dark Pale, he was recognized for The Prisoner, which is the only one of the nominees only to have been released in album form.
Already, four of the five sets have been recognized by other major awards bodies. Gervais’s Armageddon won the first-ever Golden Globe for Best Performance in Stand-Up Comedy on Television earlier this year,...

Ok, so things looked bad for Animal Kingdom’s Pope in Sunday’s episode. Like, real bad.
First, the telltale cereal box combined with security footage tipped him off to the fact that someone had been in the house. Then, after being punched a coupla times, Taylor folded like a house of cards and admitted that his “mom” was Detective Thompson. Finally, Pope confronted the cop and was chagrined to learn that — ruh-roh — she didn’t want a payoff, she wanted to bring Catherine’s killer to justice.

Dave Chappelle may have garnered an Emmy nomination last week for his controversial The Closer special, but today the comic was booted out of one of Minneapolis’ most storied venues for his often-wounding take on the transgender community.
Mere hours before the Mark Twain Prize winner was set to step on to the stage at the Minnesota metropolis’ First Avenue, organizers pulled the plug on the sold-out show. Citing a backlash against Chappelle’s perceived transphobic remarks, First Avenue management canceled his protested performance at the venue and moved him to the nearby Varsity Theater.
