The title, ZOUND is also the core concept; visually and graphically speaking, the letter Z provokes uneasiness, an uncomfortable state, is more offensive, more aggressive than the curvy, delicate, innocuous, soft letter S; so, SOUND has become ZOUND in English, ZON in French, ZUONO in Italian.
Apart from Kastriot Shehi, who is a professional actor, all other characters are performed by non-actors. For instance, Helga Mustafaraj, the Lead Actress (The Girlfriend), was actually the accountant of the film. She was cast during a financial meeting with the writer-director and the line producer. Two days afte she was reherasing the dialogue.
The traffic part in the taxi was the most difficult scene in terms of production. It was a three consecutives days shot, on a busy real traffic, in one of the most Tirana's busiest axes. The scene comprised three main actors, one supporting actor, 80 extras, 11 production cars, a bus and an ambulance, all choreographed meticulously to be in sync with the main focus of the scene, the Taxi.
The segment of the Young Mother from the Traffic scene, is originally conceived with Monica Bellucci's traits in mind. As casting the famous star was impossible, the production found her albanian resemblance, Françeska Çoniku.
The piano player is a real teacher of piano, Etleva Turkeshi Minarolli, widow of the famous albanian filmmaker and former Chairman of the Albanian National Cinematography Center, Artan Minarolli. Handel's music was a tribute to him.
