Tomo Aizawa is very much a tomboy. She is also in love with Junichiro, a boy she has been friends with since childhood. One day she plucks up the courage to tell him but he misunderstands, it doesn't cross his mind that she meant it romantically rather than as friends. She persists in trying to get him to see her as more than just a friend but things never seem to go her way.
I thought this series was a lot of fun. There are plenty of laughs to be had in every episode. The characters are solid, as well as Tomo and Junichiro there is Misuzu, Tomo's sadistic friend and Carol, a bubbly girl of British ancestry. The character designs are good; I like the fact that Tomo is in no way androgynous; so the fact that she is a girl isn't disputed, it is just her tomboyish behaviour. Overall a really fun series that I'd certainly recommend to any anime fan looking for a good laugh.

This was a nice romance with great comedic timing and plenty of fun characters. It finds a nice balance between it's main couple and it's side characters in a way that none of it gets boring. The side characters in particular were the highlights of the show. Gundo, particularly, was a great character who was very savage and funny initially, and she also has a great character arc till the end. The show also had this non-linear type of storytelling where it keeps going back and forth to show what all has happened between these characters before and in what order. While that keeps the show interesting, it did limit their progress and interactions during the present. I do think this show took a sudden change of tone, to a emotional one, after a hilarious initial set of episodes.

Do you know what it means to be "friend zoned"? Tomo was put in the friend zone after confessing to Junichirou Kubota, her crush. He sees her as a friend, but Tomo wants him to see her as a girl. To tell the truth, there's a pretty good explanation for that. For you see, Tomo represents the definition of a tomboy, yet she's a girl.
The anime's title literally means what it says. At least in a literal sense, Tomo Aizawa is a girl. She finds it distressing that Jun perceives her as a man at all times. The show, which is based on the 4-koma, mostly uses a romantic comedy storytelling style with lots of jokes and funny scenes. Considering how lightly the anime is handled, the fan service is something you shouldn't ignore. The main objective of the anime is to make Jun and the viewers understand that Tomo is a girl and not the tomboy that everyone thinks her to be.
Though I haven't worked on anime much, viewers shouldn't be too concerned with fan service, as I previously stated. I'm not too familiar with the author. Their real concern should be whether Tomo will ever move on from his friendship with Jun or remain in it indefinitely. With Tomo's naive confession, the play also taught me the importance of first impressions. To be honest, I'm not a big fan of romantic comedies in which it takes the whole season to determine whether or not a pair works out. Nevertheless, I overlooked this anime because it's the fundamental idea of the program, and each episode introduces fresh situations and character stories.
Although Lay-Duce's repertoire hasn't left a lasting mark on the public, I can state with certainty that this is their best to date. Vibrant colors and logical phrases are used in the creation of character designs. They frequently react in a cartoonish way when they're surprised or anxious. Tomo is the primary offender due of her infatuation with Jun. But Misuzu is someone we shouldn't ignore because she always has that sinister, wicked expression on her face. What's perhaps most noticeable, though, is how Tomo is dressed in each episode. I find it quite entertaining that the anime seems to be experimenting with how much of a girl she can appear like.
The kind of animation that its fan base has long desired to see is Tomo-chan Is A Girl!, and it has finally materialized. Not 'if, but when' was the pertinent question here. And the moment is here. We have a show here that has delighted viewers from the very beginning and has adhered faithfully to its plot for the whole run. Even though it didn't completely copy the original material, it used its magic to create a compelling plot and colorful array of characters. Indeed, Tomo-chan is a Girl! Is a show worth seeing. Indeed, Tomo is unquestionably a girl. All Jun has to do is accept it.

I'm not gonna write a 3 page review, all I'm gonna say is that this show is so good!! The graphics were nice, it had a nice story, slow paced, a little rushed towards the ending but still well paces though, and it has a very nice ending. I love this show, one of the best in 2023 so far to be honest. I'm not gonna ensure you that everyone will love it, after all, "to each their own", everyone has different likes. But I will say, if you're looking for a well paced, funny, heart warming romantic series with likable characters, you SHOULD DEF TRY THIS ONE OUT!! It gives you a warm and fuzzy feeling watching the romance unfold between the characters and just makes you smile. I absolutely loved this show so much. Like I said before, to each their own, but if you like romance anime with a satisfying ending, try this one out.
NOTICE:: I'm adding this to my review after watching watching last ep:

Give it a shot if you haven't watched it yet, you won't be disappointed, and if some people don't like it, somethings wrong with them. This show was so amazing, it was the highlight of my day. 10/10 top tier Romcom!!!!

This is my favorite show of the year! For starters, the comedy is great and guaranteed to make you laugh. The story was originally told in a 4-panel comic format, so there is no shortage of little gags and punchlines. But don't get the wrong idea, the show is able to dive into characters backgrounds, their thoughts and feelings, show their strengths and flaws. We get to see characters have significant character development as they learn about themselves and others and reflect on their mistakes.
It is refreshing to have a story where you aren't shouting at the screen, "Just tell him/her how you feel! Just say it!" (Not a spoiler, it's the opening scene/premise for the show) In the very first opening scene, Tomo confesses her love for Jun, but Jun friendzones her. So instead of the "should I tell him/her" "I want to tell him/her" narrative, it instead is about how Tomo is trying to be more girly to get Jun to notice her as more than "one of the guys" or "bro."
I greatly enjoyed the beautiful animation. Every scene, background, object, and of course character is beautifully drawn. I have listened to the English dub, and the voice acting was great and really brought the characters to life. I will be rewatching the series in Japanese with English subtitles soon.
I really enjoyed this anime, and I think you will too. Give it a try!

Tomo-chan is a Girl" is a masterpiece! I laughed, cried, and cheered for the lovable characters. Tomo-chan's determination and Jun's awkwardness make for a perfect pair. But Carole, oh Carole! Her sweet nature and heartbreaking moments had me invested. The movie's focus on friendships and romance was beautiful. If I have any complaints, it's that it ended too soon! I wanted more of Tomo-chan's antics, Jun's adorableness, and Carole's sweetness. A must-watch for a heartwarming, hilarious, and sometimes tear-jerking ride. This is one of the anime that deserves a season 2 especially for supporting characters like Carole.
This is just slice of life, rom-com anime done perfectly. The dynamic between aizawa and jun was my favorite part about this series. And surprising the comedy in this show is really good. I didn't find myself cringing at a lot of jokes, it was mostly genuinely really funny.
The side characters are also pretty good. I really liked mizuru and aizawas dad especially. Though i wasn't the biggest fan of carol, very 1 dimensional, I guess that's the point though.
I don't really have anything else to say, i think if you liked horimiya or shows like toradora with this sort of tom-girl dynamic (not saying horimiya was a tom-girl anime)
Then honestly you should just watch it. 10/10.

I really, really, really enjoy this anime, is short and funny and absolutely cute!!
Is a friends lo lovers anime with a unique female protagonist, she's strong, funny, tomboy and so in love with his childhood best friend. Is a really beautiful journey of understanding about true friendship and love. Sometimes you have a friend and that's awesome, but sometimes in love you found both, a best friend and your true love. I really like that part of expression in this anime, that your partner is not only your love, is also your Friend! And than that is the true, and beautiful part of a relationship. Also I love the Tomboy representation in this anime, not all tomboys are the same!
In real life, on the inside we are fragil girls, and just want to be loved but we are what we are.

I rarely leave reviews but I loved this so much I had to.
This show is absolutely wonderful! It's so perfect! The writing is excellent in every episode. It's so clever and funny. I laughed so hard. The characters are ultimately true to themselves and finally get together in a relationship built on a deep friendship. All of the people in their friend circle are amazing too and very well-developed. You quickly come to love both of the main characters and all of their friends and family members. And to top it off the art direction is fantastic.
Amazing work for one season with a very satisfying ending to boot! I highly recommend it!!

Meh I really dig this anime like literally all things were like in shot, life boring when you try so hard to find meaning and acknowledgement only to have it thrown at your face like you're not worth it that's like the kill joy of everything, no one should feel like that but this is reality nothing goes as planned that why we fight for it in this case sometimes we need our friends to fight along side us that's when we're at our strongest than wen we're formidable the key thing I learnt here while watching was go for it even if it's your last breath of that wrong I stand to be characters cause the logic what's mine is mine and that's the stairs of tomo I like stories like this cause the other guy didn't get what he wanted.
Tomo-chan is a Girl! Is a charming and funny anime that follows the everyday lives of Tomo and Jun as they navigate their feelings for each other. The show does a great job of balancing comedy and romance, and the characters are all likable and relatable. Tomo is a particularly well-developed character, and her journey of self-discovery is both heartwarming and hilarious.
