I attended the World Premiere of Kacchey Limbu at TIFF 2022. I am not a film critic, just a fan of good cinema. Knowing nothing about the movie or the director, I was genuinely surprised to see an honest, heartwarming and fun movie.
Growing up in Mumbai with a younger sibling and the abundance of Gully Cricket, I could completely relate to each and every aspect of the film, which made it an even interesting experience. The movie is not really about cricket as much as it is about friends and family, especially friends who become family. Big kudos to Shubham Yogi, Radhika Madan, Rajat Barmecha and Ayush Mehra for their honest approach to the story and an even bigger shoutout to the incredibly talented supporting cast, each and every one has done a brilliant job and are characters straight from my childhood. Special mention to the actor who plays the Society Office Guy - I wish I knew his name - my man is hilarious and steals the show every time he's on screen.
Kacchey Limbu is simple and honest cinema. And we need more honest Hindi cinema. It may not have big names attached to it but that's the whole point - in a world full of superstars, you better watch out for the underdogs.
I'm glad I was able to personally share some of these thoughts with Director Shubham Yogi after the screening. More power to all the Kacchey Limbus out there!
