"I'm not spying! I'm listening." It's hard to not think of The Sound and the Shadow as an indie version of other classic "listening" thrillers like Brian De Palma's Blow Out, or The Conversation, but there's also something original about Justin Paul Miller vision.
The film about an eavestopping shut-in that finds himself unmittingly involved in a missing persons case stars Paul Miller and stars Joseph E. Murray (All My Children), Mary Kate Wiles (Squaresville, The Lizzie Bennet Diaries) and Alex Anfanger (The Secret Life of Walter Mitty)

Jimmy Wong is going back to his YouTube roots. Jumping off his current turn in season three of Video Game High School, Wong has launched an Indiegogo campaign for Band Aid, a six-episode musical comedy series. Band Aid and features a group of four ex-bandmates who reunite when lead singer Chase (played by Wong) launches one last attempt to win over his crush Jo (Abbe Drake) before she leaves town. Along the way, regular musical numbers will keep Band Aid lively (in the spirit of other musically-inclined comedic programs like Flight of the Conchords, Tenacious D, and Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog). In addition to starring in the series, Wong will also direct it alongside Matt Enlow, who is best known as the creator of the hit web series Squaresville. Here's a look and the pitch: Wong - who is the brother of fellow YouTuber Freddie Wong - has always had an affinity for musical comedy.

Squaresville's second season is rolling along on Big Frame, where it has helped launch a new sub-network aimed at young women. The series' target audience will surely appreciate the latest episode, where the three leads--Mary Kate Wiles, Kylie Sparks, and Austin Rogers--cosplay as the main characters from shows will big Internet fandoms. Even with no context, the episode is sure to please fans of both Squaresville and the chosen fandoms, which include Sherlock, Star Trek, Harry Potter, Doctor Who, Adventure Time, and, in a nod to Squaresville's web series status, The Guild (it helps that Wiles and Felicia Day are pretty much the two most popular online video redheads.) Joining those motifs are references to Annie Hall, Daria, Ghost World (which I've always thought of as thematic similar to Squaresville), and, in the episodes most absurd moment, The Joy of Painting. The episode is a clear grab at fanbases,...

Bullying. It's been a hot button issue for quite some time now, and honestly? No matter how many precautions we take or how much that practice is looked down upon, it's not likely ever gonna stop. But what happens when it goes too far?
From the Press Release
For anyone who has been victimized by bullying, thoughts of justice can easily be twisted into an obsession for comeuppance. But when does justice turn to revenge? Can “measure for measure” become a mind-bending thirst for retribution, blurring the lines between perpetrator and victim? Image Entertainment Inc., a subsidiary of Rlj Entertainment, examines those questions and many more with the June 18th release of the deadly thriller Prank on DVD and Digital Download. Directed by Yiuwing Lam (Rupture) and featuring a cast including Nick Renaud (Mine) and Henry Monfries (“Squaresville”), Prank may be a film today but can easily become the headline of tomorrow!

Game of Thrones returns on March 31st, but a new series is helping to ease the wait by preemptively bringing viewers to Westeros. Westeros High School, that is. Lizzie Bennet Diaries and Squaresville actress Mary Kate Wiles takes the lead in School of Thrones, a hormone-fueled parody of the popular fantasy series and HBO drama. Like a quirky retelling of Shakespeare, creator Zach Grafton has meticulously modernized every element of the medieval tale and added a few of his own embellishments to keep things interesting. The first episode was released on March 10th to a warm reception, with thousands of subscribers already flocking to the show's YouTube channel. Hardcore Game of Thrones fans may be disappointed by the liberties Grafton has taken with the source material. Instead of being a child-sized whirlwind of pure evil, Joffrey Baratheon is little more than a mere annoyance. His betrothed, Sansa Stark, is transformed...

Rocker Jack White tells Conan O’Brien how three staples on a mid-century modern couch influenced his musical career, geeks try to find love at Comic-Con, and last year’s popular web series, Squaresville, debuts its second season. Plus, Phineas and Ferb spawns a new web show.
Serious Jibber-Jabber | This relatively new web series features O’Brien talking “for a long time with interesting people.” The late-night comedian handpicks his interview subjects and deftly navigates a wide range of topics with each guest. The fourth installment features a fascinating conversation with Grammy-winning musician/producer White.

That's right: the nominees for the Streamy Audience Choice Awards are here. The Audience Choice Awards are broken into two major categories: Personality of the Year and Series of the Year. The ten nominees in each field were chosen through fan submissions, and the winners will be determined through a similar popularity contest. Creator Matt Enlow's Squaresville has lived an interesting life, going from successful Kickstarter campaign to cult hit to Big Frame partner. Now, the teen dramedy is kicking off its second season with even more news, as it is one of the flagship series on Wonderly, Big Frame's new sub-network aimed at young women. Squaresville, with its strong female characters and relatable themes, is an ideal fit for Wonderly, which bills itself as a "web, mobile and YouTube destination dedicated to promoting the most imaginative young female voices of today and influencers of tomorrow." Though Squaresville is currently absent from the Wonderly channel (which at the moment contains only one short video), it has been posted to its own channel; the first episode resumes the fight that main characters Zelda and Esther started at the end of last season. In addition to Squaresville, Wonderly will feature contributions from other Big Frame creators,...

The first season of creator Matt Enlow's Squaresville, a low-key teenage comedy, drew a bit of a cult following thanks to a likable cast (featuring Mary Kate Wiles of Lizzie Bennett Diaries among others) and a deal with Big Frame that gave the fledgling web series plenty of publicity. Six weeks after the Squaresville finale aired, Enlow and Wiles have returned to the show's channel to announce a second season of the show. It will debut in early 2013 and, if the show's creative talent is to be believed, it will have "100% more making out, 100% more fun, and 85% more angst." Production has already wrapped, so expect Enlow to spend the next few weeks teasing his passionate fanbase with photos and trailers (the Squaresville channel has hosted a large amount of behind-the-scenes material in addition to the sixteen episodes.)

Squaresville, the teen dramedy from creator Matt Enlow, has been on our radar since it was just a wee little Kickstarter campaign back in 2011. Since then, the series has signed up with Big Frame and has gained a solid following. Now, after 16 episodes, the first season of the show has come to an end. The finale was recently released, revealing a key secret about one of the main characters and ending the season on a bit of a cliffhanger. Squaresville stars Mary Kate Wiles (Lizzie Bennet Diaries) as Zelda, a precocious teen whose best friend is Esther, played by Kylie Sparks. So much about this series, from the setting to the 'feel' to the give-and-take between the two leads, reminds me of Ghost World, the comic book that became a critically acclaimed film. Squaresville's finale definitely contains most of these appealing elements. If you've seen part of the series so far,...
