Robyn's trek takes about nine months. But her hair stays the same length, neatly blunt cut, throughout the journey/movie.
Robyn spends months walking in the sun with barely any protection, often half-dressed, and develops hardly any tan, and one nasty sunburn that appears in one scene and is gone the next.
As the photographer, Rick, Adam Driver says he was in Irian Jaya when fellow photographer, David Burnett, won the 'Capra' Medal (as in the film director, Frank Capra). There is no such thing. It is called the Capa Medal (formally, The Robert Capa Gold Medal), named after the famous photographer Robert Capa.
Robyn drops her compass, a personal heirloom and crucial navigational tool. When she notices this, she retraces her tracks some significant distance and finds it. As soon as she finds it, she becomes unable to follow the now-doubly-traveled tracks back to rejoin her camels (even with her compass) relying on her dog to lead her.
