Sofia Carson is becoming a Netflix star. After being brilliant in 2024's thriller, Carry-On, she will now turn lead in a new Netflix movie called The Life List. The story revolves around a woman who is set on a journey by her mother to re-access her life. The twist is that Carson's character (Alex Rose) is given a new DVD each time she goes about completing tasks on her bucket list.

Mind you, at least some of the bucket list was created when Alex was a child, so some of what she has to do might be something she would never do as an adult. The list includes participating in an open mic night, playing basketball in a one-on-one game, and teaching at a women's shelter. The truth is that the film is not a series of episodes of Alex working her way down the list.

In March 2024, Netflix confirmed The Life List, a new romantic comedy starring Sofia Carson. The movie is due out on Netflix soon, so we’re here with everything known about it, including the full cast, production updates, plot details, and more on its release date, which is now set for March 28th.

Adam Brooks is on board to both write and direct the project. The Canadian screenwriter and director is no stranger to the romantic comedy space, having written or directed (or both) titles like Definitely, Maybe, and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, plus the Netflix Original movie Nappily Ever After, released in 2018.

This isn’t the first time The Lift List has been attempted to be brought to the big screen. Ahead of the book’s release in 2013, Fox 2000 optioned the film rights for the novel, with Hutch Parker set to produce.

2025 is going to be great for Netflix. Sure, we have not seen all the streamer is going to gift us, but let's presume that things will be terrific. Netflix has never (mostly) let us down.

Some people complain there are too many foreign titles on the streamer. This seems...well, odd. Netflix is a global company and foreign films and shows can be just as good as the English-language ones.

Still, most of the films below should make all folks happy. They should be excellent adds to Netflix's already impressive catalog. Just don't hate us if we get one of them wrong.

On Thursday, Netflix revealed its full 2025 film slate. The lineup includes long-awaited sequels, high profile originals, future Oscar contenders, and much more.

The biggest new announcements in the slate include the formal announcement of Jay Kelly, three-time Academy Award nominee Noah Baumbach‘s latest film, a “heartbreaking comedy” featuring George Clooney and Adam Sandler in the large ensemble cast; Eddie, a biographical documentary about one of Hollywood’s most elusive stars, Eddie Murphy; and a Charles Manson documentary from Academy Award winner Errol Morris.

These titles join previously announced films including the third installment in Rian Johnson‘s Daniel Craig-led mystery franchise, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery; Guillermo del Toro‘s adaptation of Frankenstein starring Oscar Isaac and Jacob Elordi; and an as-yet-untitled thriller from Best Director winner Kathryn Bigelow, her first film in eight years.

Each year, the SAG Awards select ambassadors who “exemplify the utmost values of the acting profession, serve as positive role models for the next generation of performers and actively use their platform to advocate for humanitarian and public service endeavors.”

There were no corners being cut, and no dodgy CGI; you always had the sense that you were watching a big movie made with professional pride. And best of all, you didn't have to plunge into a series of books to get acquainted with the films' larger mythology.

The film is directed by Thea Sharrock and is an adaptation based on the Eléonore Pourriat-directed French film, “Je Ne Suis Pas Un Homme Facile.” The movie will be written by Katie Silberman, Natalie Krinsky and Cinco Paul.

The official logline for “Ladies First” reads: “A womanizer gets a real wakeup call when he finds himself in a world dominated by women – a fiery female counterpart makes things far more complicated.”

The film’s producers are Liza Chasin for 3dot Productions, Eleonore Dailly, Edouard de Lachomette and Four By Two Films. The untitled thriller also stars Idris Elba, Rebecca Ferguson, Jared Harris, Greta Lee, Gabriel Basso, Anthony Ramos, Tracy Letts, Moses Ingram, Malachi Beasley and Aminah Nieves. The film’s title and plot remain under wraps, though sources tell Deadline it will be set at the White House as a national crisis unfolds.
