Featured review
This 1975 movie with Tan Tao-Kung, Han Ying-Chieh, Helen Poon Bing- Seung, Lee Tin-Ying, Mang Hoi and Nick Cheung Lik is also known as "Those Kungfu-Men from Peking". It begins with some scenes in the dark on a boat. After the credits, it cuts to a squabble over space in the market place leading to a brawl. A guy carrying a suit case passes by and throws a few punches. He is suspected of being hired to fight by one of the market factions. Lee Tin-Ying reports to Han Ying-Chieh (aka The Big Boss) as the new martial arts instructor. Hang Moi enters and does a demonstration. Cut to a guy in a uniform talks to another guy. Cut again to a restaurant and another guy gets a note from the lady. Together they eavesdrop on a meeting discussing a new shipment soon to arrive. It seems to be opium.
My copy is a digital file I got from who knows where and I find nothing legitimate for sale anywhere. The picture size is the same as VHS. The subtitles are dual Chinese and English but so small that even pausing to read I probably can't see up to one third. The audio dies at about 40 minutes then returns out of synchronization.
The good news is that the final fight starts at about the one hour mark and lasts the final twenty minutes. There is also an excellent spider climb between two buildings at about 1:05 mark.
This movie is suitable only for hard core fans of the genre. The action and fights are only average and the video quality is barely watchable. Sometimes I write reviews, sometimes I write warnings.
