In the scene where Agnes catches Ines having sex in the hotel room, the vaginal intercourse between Kathleen Morgeneyer and Eckhard Ehem wasn't simulated. Morgeneyer and Ehem met on the set of this film and began a romantic relationship, from which two daughters were born (in 2013 and 2016).
The film had the working title "Anonym" for a long time, which was then changed to "Töchter" in mid-July 2013.
Director Maria Speth chose Kathleen Morgeneyer as the homeless Ines "although there would have been better-known actresses". But Morgeneyer had the life to film. Speth only had to ask, and Morgeneyer told her about her 34-year life during the six weeks of filming, and in it there is much of the utopia, the provocative spirit, the social criticism and the unwillingness to compromise that her character also demands. "So this is now the story of Kathleen Morgeneyer," she says.
