The stage show had it's Broadway run at the Helen Hayes Theater on West 44th Street.
For the filming of the show, Jay Johnson designed the device that dropped Spaulding from the ceiling. It worked perfectly every rehearsal and never worked properly during a filmed performance. Everyone was convinced it was because Spaulding was nervous.
Director Bryan W. Simon utilized a 12-camera set up to capture all of the nuances of the stage play.
The original Broadway show won the TONY AWARD® in 2007 for Special Theatrical Event.
